After looking at the configuration and price of the electric MINI ACEMAN, I feel that Beam Automotive may really be out of business.

Beam Automotive is a joint venture between BMW and Great Wall Motors. As early as 2018, the two automakers had reached a cooperation agreement with a 50:50 equity ratio.

Beam Automotive was established to produce electric MINIs.

From a timing perspective, it is not too late for BMW and Great Wall to reach a cooperation intention, because in 2018, the domestic new energy vehicle market was just starting. However, due to various factors, the electric MINI jointly produced by BMW and Great Wall was not officially launched in China until the second half of this year.

On August 27, MINI's second pure electric vehicle, the MINI ACEMAN, was officially launched, positioned as a small pure electric SUV. In fact, this car can also be regarded as the five-door version of the MINI COOPER. The two cars have a very high degree of similarity in appearance design. However, in terms of body size and wheelbase, the MINI ACEMAN has more advantages. The length, width and height are 4076/1754/1515 mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2606 mm.

Although the new car is jointly produced by BMW and Great Wall, it still has the BMW MINI logo and has not established a separate brand. There is only a "Beam Auto" letter logo on the rear of the car.

Therefore, strictly speaking, the two pure electric MINI models currently on the market by Beam Auto are still imported cars, and the sales data released by the China Passenger Car Association does not include the sales performance of the electric MINI.

However, judging from the official price, configuration and power, it is highly likely that this car will have almost no sales in China.

Let's look at the price first. The four models of the electric MINI ACEMAN are priced between 209,900 and 279,900 yuan. You should know that this is just a small pure electric SUV, and the starting price is over 200,000 yuan.

The key is that it still has the BMW MINI logo.

As for configuration, all models are equipped with a 9.4-inch central control screen as standard, and the entry-level model with an official guide price of 209,900 yuan is equipped with knitted seats. Among them, the low-end and second-lowest-end models do not even have the most basic functions such as electric seat adjustment, electric sunroof, and exterior rearview heating and folding.

Moreover, all models are equipped with reversing image and cruise control as standard. Only the top and second-top models can be equipped with 360-degree panoramic image and L2-level assisted driving.

The only acceptable functions are the facial recognition, seat heating and massage functions on the top and second-top models.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a front single motor and a ternary lithium battery from Honeycomb Energy. Two versions are available with a pure electric range of 450 kilometers and 445 kilometers.

Among them, the pure electric range of 450 kilometers version has a maximum power of 135 kilowatts, a maximum torque of 290 Nm, and a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour; the pure electric range of 445 kilometers version has a maximum power of 160 kilowatts, a maximum torque of 330 Nm, and a maximum speed of 170 kilometers per hour.

With such configuration and power, it is far behind the domestic pure electric SUVs of the same level such as BYD Yuan PLUS and Geely Galaxy E5, and even compared with Mercedes-Benz smart elf #1.

Faced with the fiercely competitive domestic new energy vehicle market, Chekuaiping believes that judging from the price and configuration of the electric MINI ACEMAN, the latecomer Beam Automotive has little hope of survival.
