Here is the most professional and authoritative series of content on Korean cars and the Korean car market on the entire network, the 1330th issue of "Korean Trends".

Hyundai Kia is developing a variety of temperature control technologies and applying them to mass-produced vehicles! The three technologies disclosed this time are:

1. "Nano cooling film" installed on vehicle glass can significantly reduce the interior temperature.

2. "Radiant heating system" that quickly increases the perceived temperature of passengers through the heat generated by the heat sources surrounding them.

3. The world's first "metal-coated heating glass" that uses a 48V system to quickly dissipate heat from the metal coating inside the glass, eliminating frost and moisture.

【1】Nano cooling film: Stick it on the window and the temperature inside the car can be reduced by up to 10℃ in summer

In July last year, Hyundai Motor and Kia unveiled a variety of cutting-edge nanomaterial technologies at the Nano Technology Day event. The nano cooling film unveiled at the time attracted much attention as an effective technology that can significantly reduce the interior temperature of a vehicle simply by attaching it to the vehicle.

At this event, Hyundai Motor and Kia will unveil a large-area nano cooling film that was developed based on higher performance and quality than ever before and applied to the Hyundai IONIQ 6. Two vehicles with the same interior and exterior colors were prepared, one with the nano cooling film installed and the other in its factory-fresh state to show the difference in interior temperature.

During the day's show, the indoor temperature near the center console of the nano-cooling film construction vehicle was 36.0°C, and the indoor temperature of the non-nano-cooling film construction vehicle was 48.5°C, with the maximum difference between the two vehicles being 12.5°C.

Nano cooling film is different from the previous paint film that only isolates the heat outside the vehicle. It is a material that not only isolates the external heat, but also has the function of releasing heat to the inside of the vehicle.

It consists of three layers, including two layers for reflecting large-wavelength near-infrared solar energy and one layer for outputting large-wavelength mid-infrared internal rays to the outside. Just installing it on the vehicle glass can reduce the indoor temperature by more than 10°C in summer.

In particular, the transmittance of visible light can be freely adjusted, and it can be used together with existing ordinary films, which will be more effective.

In April this year, Hyundai Motor also launched the "MADE COOLER BY HYUNDAI" campaign in Pakistan, installing transparent nano-cooling films on more than 70 vehicles for free.

【2】Radiant heating system: The heating element wrapped around the body delivers warmth within 3 minutes

Hyundai Motor and Kia introduced the radiant heating system, a technology that quickly warms passengers' bodies in winter, and applied the technology to the Kia EV9 for attendees to experience firsthand on site.

The radiant heat heating system is a technology that uses radiant heat heating elements around the legs of passengers to quickly warm the passengers' bodies in winter.

Hyundai and Kia emphasize that if the radiant heat heating system is used with the existing air conditioning system, it can save 17% of energy when reaching the appropriate temperature, transferring warmth to the lower body within 3 minutes, thereby improving passenger comfort.

The dry air from the air conditioner directly hits the skin, eliminating the discomfort felt and achieving comfortable heating without drying. It will also have a positive impact on the extension of the driving range of electric vehicles in winter.

The core technology is the high-temperature film-type heating element and fire prevention system. The film-type heating element that can generate 110°C heat generates heat in each module, and the fabric material wrapped in this heat diffuses the heat to the human body, making it feel warm and releasing far infrared rays. In addition, each heating element module also adopts a system to prevent burns, which can sense and reduce the temperature immediately after the body touches it.

The EV9 on display at the event has radiant heating elements in nine locations, including five locations on the driver's seat, such as below the steering column, door, and center console, and four locations on the passenger seat, such as door and center console.

Hyundai Motor and Kia plan to equip new cars to be launched in the future with radiant heating systems.

【3】Metal coated heating glass: The transparent metal coating surface heats up, defrosting and dehumidifying

Hyundai Motor and Kia introduced the world's first "metal-coated heating glass" technology that uses a 48V system.

Metal-coated heating glass is a technology that inserts a metal coating consisting of about 20 layers between the joined glass on the front of the vehicle, allowing the glass to heat itself and defrost and dehumidify in winter.

In particular, the 48V high-voltage system can completely remove frost from the glass surface within 5 minutes even at -18°C. Compared with the existing diesel locomotive air conditioning system, the power is reduced by about 10% and the speed can be up to 4 times faster.

What's more, in hot weather like summer, even without using electricity, the inserted metal coating can block at least 60% of the solar energy from the outside.

Most importantly, compared to tungsten heat wires that are mainly used for front windows in cold regions such as Canada or Northern Europe, visibility is greatly improved. The internal heating wire is not visible, and a clean view can be conveyed to the driver without light blooming or distortion.

Hyundai Motor and Kia said they believe the technology will also be of great help to safety in cold regions around the world. If metal-coated heating glass is used, it can replace the air conditioning system set up to remove frost and moisture from the front glass, thus achieving more efficient and freer design.

Hyundai Motor and Kia said they have applied for patents for metal-coated heating glass-related technologies in major markets around the world, which will be applicable to new cars to be launched in the future.
