The excavation efficiency was more than doubled that of traditional methods, which opened up the "acceleration" for the construction of the Huangbai Railway.

The Laoshan Tunnel, located in Leye County, Baise City, is 9,121 meters long. The geology around the tunnel is complex and changeable, and risks such as rock bursts and water gushing are prone to occur during construction.

As a single-track railway tunnel, the working area inside the tunnel is small, and large equipment cannot be deployed, which also brings great difficulties to the construction. At present, the single working section area of ​​Laoshan Tunnel is about 73 square meters. During each cycle of excavation, an average of 150 blasting holes need to be drilled on the working surface to meet the blasting excavation needs. The traditional manual drilling operation takes 4.5 hours to complete, while the intelligent double-folding arm drilling rig, under the control of 3 operators, only takes 2 hours to complete the task of drilling 150 blasting holes.

Xie Duo, deputy manager of the Huangbai Railway Project Department of China Railway No. 5 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the intelligent double-folding arm drilling rig is an advanced excavation equipment currently used in China's railway construction. It is not only maneuverable and flexible, and easy to operate, but also can use electronic control technology, remote monitoring programs, GPS positioning, drilling depth detection, water pump flow and pressure monitoring and other functions to effectively observe the blasting drilling conditions, further improve the blasting quality, and ensure the safety of tunnel construction. In addition, it generates less dust and low noise during operation, which can better protect the health of construction workers.

The Huangbai Railway is about 315 kilometers long with a designed speed of 160 kilometers per hour. It is a landmark project of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor. The Guangxi section is 138.773 kilometers long, with 33 new tunnels and 33 new bridges. The bridge-tunnel ratio is as high as 90.6%, which is the railway with the highest bridge-tunnel ratio in Guangxi. In order to ensure the construction quality of the Huangbai Railway and improve the construction efficiency, the construction units Huangbai Railway Co., Ltd. and Yunnan-Guizhou Railway Guangxi Company will also guide the participating units to promote the use of intelligent digital lining trolleys, intelligent maintenance trolleys, 3D laser cross-section scanners and other railway intelligent construction equipment to better cope with complex and changeable geological conditions, continuously optimize the construction process, reduce process connection, and reduce construction risks.

The construction period of Huangbai Railway is 5 years. At present, all the first construction sites of Huangbai Railway in Guangxi have started construction. The tunnel project is being fully promoted, and the main tunnel has accumulated more than 1,200 meters of excavation. After the project is completed, it will further improve the layout of the regional railway network and become a convenient channel from northern Guizhou to the Beibu Gulf region of Guangxi.
