test method for low temperature driving range of new energy vehicles

nowadays, buying new energy vehicles has become the choice of more and more consumers, but this was not the case more than ten years ago. "although everyone recognizes new energy vehicles now, at that time, it was definitely a new thing." hu fangfang said that in 2012, various technologies surrounding new energy vehicles were in the initial development stage, and the inspection work that hu fangfang's team was responsible for was no exception. at that time, hu fangfang searched through relevant materials, but found that the quality inspection standards were "pitifully few", and there were only a few at the national level, and there was almost no information that could provide them with reference. as a municipal automobile quality inspection unit, hu fangfang's team had the responsibility to take on the task of formulating full-item inspection standards for new energy vehicles.

hu fangfang, who is resolute and swift, did not wait or rely on others, and quickly led the team members to take action. "although this is a difficult task, we must do it well so that consumers can drive new energy vehicles with confidence." hu fangfang said that combined with years of practical experience, the team drafted a version of the full-item testing standard for new energy vehicles that meets the conditions of beijing in a short period of time. with this draft standard, the team visited a number of domestic experts in related fields and invited them to make suggestions from different angles to improve the plan. "in this process, one of the most difficult problems we encountered was the low-temperature driving range. at that time, the range of new energy vehicles was generally only 150 to 200 kilometers. in actual scenarios, especially in low-temperature weather, the mileage may be shorter." beijing's winter is very cold. in low-temperature environments, the problem of shortened driving range of new energy vehicles must be taken seriously.

with her professional and rigorous work style and meticulous work attitude, hu fangfang, after repeated experiments, pioneered a power battery section test method and proposed for the first time a new energy vehicle low-temperature driving range test method, incorporating core energy-consuming components such as air conditioning and heating of new energy vehicles into energy flow analysis. the introduction of this standard not only makes quality inspection closer to the actual working conditions of the vehicle, but also enables consumers to reasonably choose vehicles, urges product performance improvement, and promotes the progress of the entire industry.

in the same year, when hu fangfang led the team to work day and night to develop the inspection standards for new energy vehicles, a heavy rainstorm came unexpectedly. "batteries + rain, isn't that a hidden danger?" hu fangfang and the team immediately realized the potential safety hazard - the batteries of new energy vehicles are installed on the chassis of the car. if the water level is above the chassis of the car, then the battery is likely to leak after being immersed in water.

"we must include the indicator of wading performance in the inspection standards." hu fangfang said that there happened to be a wading road next to the unit, so after sufficient demonstration and combined with the actual 27 cm water accumulation warning line in beijing, the team proposed a wading driving standard: in 30 cm of water, the vehicle can safely drive 500 meters. several times, the vehicle undergoing wading inspection "lay down" after driving more than 100 meters, and the quality inspectors wearing insulating equipment could only climb out of the car by themselves. it is in such tests again and again that beijing's full-item testing standards for new energy vehicles have been gradually improved, providing favorable support for the launch announcement inspection of new models of automobile companies such as baic new energy, ideal auto, and xiaomi auto. according to statistics, hu fangfang's team tested more than 870 batches of models, involving 9,650 batches of test items.

hydrogen fuel cell bus "beijing winter olympics" test standards

during the 2022 beijing winter olympics and paralympics, 212 hydrogen fuel cell buses served the long-distance shuttle service between beijing and zhangjiakou, achieving the "three zero" goals of zero mistakes, zero roadblocks, and zero risks in a severe cold environment of minus 30 degrees celsius. hu fangfang is very proud of this. it was the "beijing winter olympics" test standard for hydrogen fuel cell buses pioneered by her and her team that provided technical support for the safe travel of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

"at that time, we were facing a relatively passive situation: in low-temperature environments, new energy vehicles would encounter thorny problems such as insufficient climbing power and poor air conditioning heating capacity." hu fangfang said, but hydrogen fuel buses are completely unaffected, and are famous for their low-temperature start-up, low-temperature storage and shutdown automatic protection technologies. however, is the safety performance of hydrogen fuel vehicles guaranteed? no one is sure about this. at that time, hu fangfang received the task of inspecting the safety performance of hydrogen fuel buses, and the pressure can be imagined. hu fangfang led the team to work day and night, overtime, and finally designed a complete set of monitoring plans, and submitted them to the beijing winter olympics organizing committee for approval. after a rigorous review, the inspection of hydrogen fuel buses was finally completed. "we are relieved after you have completed the inspection." hu fangfang still remembers the affirmation given to them by the beijing winter olympics organizing committee.

in recent years, beijing has actively promoted the development of the hydrogen energy industry around the construction of the beijing-tianjin-hebei fuel cell vehicle demonstration city cluster, and has initially completed the pilot exploration of the path from source basic innovation to commercial development. "hydrogen energy is in a critical opportunity period for large-scale and market-oriented development." hu fangfang said. after the beijing winter olympics, she devoted herself to the construction of the national hydrogen fuel cell vehicle quality inspection center. at present, the beijing product quality supervision and inspection institute is preparing to build a laboratory that can cover the entire industry chain testing capabilities of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, fuel cell systems, hydrogen bottles, hydrogen refueling facilities, etc. in order to build the laboratory as soon as possible, hu fangfang led the team to actively carry out project applications, municipal fiscal ex ante performance evaluation and fiscal review, and completed the bidding and contract signing of 291 sets of equipment in 210 days. in the same year, it applied for the national hydrogen fuel cell vehicle quality inspection and testing center and obtained the formal approval of the state administration for market regulation. in 2023, the fuel cell stack and system-level core component laboratory will be officially completed, and it will begin to provide research and development services to related companies, helping the beijing-tianjin-hebei region to build a strong chain and high-quality development of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

due to her outstanding achievements, hu fangfang was elected as the secretary-general of the beijing hydrogen energy quality standardization committee. she participated in promoting the establishment of two local standards, namely "process regulations for liquid hydrogen refueling of fuel cell electric vehicles" and "technical specifications for public data collection at hydrogen refueling stations", filling the gaps in national and industry standards and leading the development of my country's hydrogen energy industry.

during the interview, hu fangfang took the reporter to visit her workplace. remote location, open space, sophisticated equipment... although quality inspection is not a purely physical job, it takes a lot of effort to complete the inspections on the quality inspection form, but hu fangfang enjoys it: "because i have had a dream of becoming an engineer since i was a child, when filling out my college entrance examination application, i firmly chose engineering as my major."

in order to realize her dream, hu fangfang was willing to endure hardships and use her brain. when she participated in the construction of the automobile inspection base, she would patrol the huge construction site twice a day, even in rainy weather, she did not stop. several times, her shoes and trouser legs were soaked by rain, but she still insisted on patrolling without slacking off. there was no canteen during the construction period, and the location was remote, so even takeout was not delivered there, so she drove several kilometers to pack lunch boxes for her colleagues. "in the early days of the base construction, we only had a dozen people, and now our automobile inspection team has expanded to more than 100 people." hu fangfang said.

leading this team of more than 100 people, hu fangfang feels that she has a heavy responsibility on her shoulders. in 2022, after the national-level intelligent connected vehicle quality inspection center was approved for establishment, it was responsible for various technical services such as r&d testing, product investigation, quality inspection, etc. for many new energy vehicle manufacturers on a daily basis. everyone in the team is busy. hu fangfang said: "the development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry is changing with each passing day. this also requires us to constantly update our knowledge and master cutting-edge technologies. only in this way can we better serve beijing's new energy vehicle application demonstration and the innovative development of the automobile industry, and provide strong technical support and services for the development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry."
