in august, tesla model y continued to be popular. it sold 45,330 new cars, nearly three times that of model 3. although it has been on the market for more than five years and there has been no serious upgrade in the meantime, it still cannot stop the model y from killing it.

there are many reasons for the success of tesla model y. the first one is definitely the brand effect. then there is the product strength, which also has certain competitiveness, especially the control and battery life, which have been well received.

for domestically produced cars, model y is the real "tang monk's meat", and everyone wants to have a bite. this is a monthly volume of 40,000 to 50,000 units. any profit from it is enough for a new medium-sized company to survive.

previously, domestically produced cars have launched a round of encirclement and suppression against model y, with m7, leapmotor c11, and xiaopeng g9 all participating in the battle. now the second round of encirclement and suppression is coming again, and this time the strategy is more focused, with lantu zhiyin, ledao l60, and zeekr 7x joining the battle.

can these three new cars shake the dominance of tesla model y? i would like to share some of my opinions with you.

(1) lantu zhiyin: ultra-long battery life + huawei intelligent driving

lantu zhiyin is the first model of lantu built on a pure electric platform. this model has a firm concept at the beginning of its design, that is, to strictly benchmark model y.

the body size of lantu zhiyin is 4725*1900*1636, and the wheelbase is 2900mm. just looking at this size, you can tell that this will be a model with a body proportion similar to that of model y. it also has a wide body and long wheelbase design, and has made some compromises in height compared to traditional suvs.

the advantage of this is that while ensuring the riding space, the body can also maintain as much flexibility as possible. the biggest difference is that the platform of lantu zhiyin is updated, so the wheelbase is longer and the space in the second row is wider.

lantu zhiyin also uses a new generation of amber 2.0 battery system, which is also a set of battery technology developed independently by lantu. its biggest function is that the energy density is increased by 20% compared with traditional power batteries, while the weight is reduced by 40%.

this is a typical case of "cutting off the fuel from under the cauldron". on the one hand, the battery capacity has been greatly increased, allowing a 108-kwh battery pack to be placed in a mid-size suv. on the other hand, the weight of the battery has been reduced, which is also the key to lantu zhiyin's ability to achieve an ultra-long range of 901km.

of course, large battery packs also have problems, that is, the charging speed. lantu zhiyin's battery charging speed reaches 5c, and it can charge 510km in 15 minutes, which is also a king bomb. in addition, the technology of 8% attenuation per million kilometers eliminates the worries of supercharging.

the new car is the first model jointly developed by lantu and huawei, using huawei's smart cockpit and qiankun intelligent driving system. this is also a very big highlight. even if the subsequent model y introduces the full version of fsd, huawei's ads 3.0 advanced intelligent driving system is still in place.

what's more, the current pre-sale price of lantu zhiyin is only 266,900 yuan, including 901km of driving range and huawei intelligent driving. tesla's fsd option costs an additional 64,000 yuan, so it goes without saying which one has a higher cost-effectiveness.

(2) ledao l60, teaching the market to make “mid-range” products?

ledao l60 is the first "downstream" product made by nio. this car well defines how a "mid-range" car should be made. even if it is not a flagship, its configuration in all aspects is close to the flagship level.

first of all, of course, is the performance. the entry-level ledao l60 is equipped with a 240kw large motor, which can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds. although it is a medium-sized suv with a size of 4828*1930*1616mm and a wheelbase of 2950mm, it still maintains good performance.

then there is the intelligent configuration. the entire series of new cars are equipped with qualcomm 8295 chip as standard, with 60tops ai computing power, and standard 24gb of running memory.

although the exclusive coconut smart car system is brand new, this system is the result of nio's full-stack technology research and development, and the overall intelligent experience is still quite good.

in terms of intelligent driving, the ledao l60 is also equipped with nvidia orin x chip at the entry level. although the laser radar is absent, the configuration is still at the flagship level.

the new car also has a large refrigerator jointly developed with midea, with a capacity of 52l. compared with the traditional small refrigerator of less than 10l in the center console armrest box, ledao is really dedicated to improving the configuration.

the biggest killer is of course the battery swap. after years of "head-stubbornness", nio finally showed its cost-effectiveness in ledao. for only 599 yuan per month (less than 480 yuan including benefits), you can enjoy a complete battery swap system, which is as convenient as fuel vehicles, and the entry price of the new car is only 149,900 yuan.

the advantages of battery swapping are self-explanatory. you don’t have to worry about range anxiety, charging time and charging space occupancy, or battery degradation. even the battery capacity is variable. a 60-degree battery is sufficient for daily use in the city, and when you need to travel long distances, you can even swap to a 150kwh semi-solid battery with a range of more than 1,000km.

in short, the launch of ledao l60 is too tempting for users who don’t have parking spaces in the city. it can achieve 130% of the functions of model y, and the price is 20% cheaper than the latter, which is indeed sincere enough.

(3) zeekr 7x, a high-end brand

since it was launched at almost the same time as the ledao l60, many people like to compare the zeekr 7x with the ledao l60. in fact, strictly speaking, the positioning of the two cars is not quite the same. the ledao l60 focuses on economy, while the zeekr 7x maximizes the retention of the characteristics of a high-end brand.

first of all, let’s talk about the power design. the entry-level zeekr 7x is equipped with a 310kw motor, while the four-wheel drive version has a 165kw front motor and a 310kw rear motor. the acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h can be achieved in 3.8 seconds, which is still the typical zeekr style.

the chassis configuration is fully extended, and the steering, shock absorption, and suspension are all adjustable. compared with fuel suvs of the same size, the front overhang of the zeekr 7x is shorter, making it more flexible to drive and allowing for better control of the front of the car. the new car also has a good field of vision, especially for the blind spot control of the a-pillar, which is excellent.

in terms of power tuning, the zeekr 7x is different from the zeekr 001 and is not as aggressive. instead, there is a reaction time after pressing the accelerator pedal. the new car can also adjust the acceleration capacity in three gears, so consumers can choose their favorite driving style.

the front double wishbone and rear multi-link suspension arrangement is considered "fully equipped" for this level. the new car also adds air suspension and cdc, which greatly enhances the toughness of the chassis and significantly improves the feedback on bumpy roads.

in short, the zeekr 7x is very much like the home version of the zeekr 007. after the "transformation" into an suv, it has a larger space, but the handling performance remains at a high level. this is the only model that can compete with the tesla model y in all aspects and win the battle.

the biggest obstacle at present is brand recognition. zeekr 7x adopts a strategy of full configuration at the entry level, and even high-end intelligent driving is standard. the starting price of 229,900 yuan is indeed not low for domestic cars, but compared with model y, it is worth much.

(4) kung fu clap

tesla model y is the biggest rival of domestic cars in recent years, and has almost become the only foreign-funded new energy vehicle. for users who do not consider domestic cars but want to buy new energy vehicles, it is often the only choice, which allows tesla to reap the benefits, leaving domestic cars helpless.

many people despair about this situation. why can the "rough" tesla sell well, while the sales of "fully equipped" domestic cars are growing slowly? this is actually a process. in the past, joint venture cars sold well at 200,000 yuan, while domestic cars with higher configurations could not even sell for 150,000 yuan. isn't this also changing?
