this is the first time that zhenjiang has carried out water maintenance operations on the launching and towing of a newly built large unpowered ship.
according to reports, the "hantong 293" and "hantong 287" are both newly built 8,200t bulk carriers, with a length of 229 meters, a width of 32.26 meters, a depth of 20.35 meters, and a maximum height of 45.50 meters above the water surface. before the two ships were launched, only part of the hull engineering was completed. there was no power device on board, and the generator and anchor windlass could not be used. due to the company's insufficient outfitting capacity, the two ships needed to be towed to the dock of cssc chengxi (taizhou) equipment technology co., ltd. for outfitting.
according to the relevant person in charge of the command center of zhenjiang maritime safety administration, the total width of the fleet for this towing operation reached 52.7 meters, and the towing distance was 63 kilometers. not only was the towing distance long and time-consuming, and many waterways were occupied, but the density of ships passing through the waters was high, the navigation environment was complex, and the ships were in an unpowered state, resulting in greater safety risks during towing and berthing.
in order to ensure the safety of the two-day undocking and towing operation, the jiangsu maritime safety administration organized relevant branch bureaus along the yangtze river to hold a water traffic organization and maintenance coordination meeting for towing operations in the jiangsu section of the yangtze river, and implemented traffic organization in advance for the passing waters, providing all-round services for towing operations in a "relay" manner. in the end, with the full organization and coordination of the zhenjiang maritime safety administration and the concerted efforts of the taizhou, changzhou, jiangyin and zhangjiagang maritime safety administrations, the "hantong 293" and "hantong 287" ships successfully berthed at the dock of cssc chengxi (taizhou) equipment technology co., ltd.
