on august 29, under the joint maintenance of the maritime departments of nantong and chongming, the "xinhai sturgeon", a large-scale trailing suction hopper dredger with the world's largest capacity and the first in china to use lng and diesel as a dual-fuel power system, invested by china communications construction shanghai navigation bureau and built by zhenhua heavy industries, made a new move and successfully set sail from qidong, jiangsu for a trial voyage carrying gas.
this operation is the second sea trial of the ship. unlike the previous sea trial on july 17, which used conventional power, this sea trial is to carry gas out of the river and use lng as power, which has increased the risk compared with the past. in order to ensure effective response to various emergencies during the sea trial, the maritime departments of jiangsu and shanghai took the initiative to provide services. before the sea trial, professional personnel were organized to conduct a comprehensive and detailed review of the navigation guarantee plan, and a detailed emergency plan was jointly formulated with the ship, covering possible emergencies such as fuel switching, equipment failure, and personnel injuries. during the sea trial out of the river, patrol boats were dispatched for full escort, and ais, cctv, drones and other technical means were used to monitor the ship's navigation trajectory and speed in real time to ensure the smooth progress of this operation.
it is reported that this ship is a new generation of green, intelligent and environmentally friendly dredging heavy equipment built by my country, with a localization rate of 90%. the ship is 155.7 meters long, 32 meters wide, 13.5 meters deep, 9.9 meters full-load draft, and a maximum designed mud tank capacity of 17,000 cubic meters. it is currently the world's largest dual-fuel powered dredger. the ship adopts the most advanced "one-to-two" composite drive mode. regardless of various working conditions such as navigation, dredging, mud throwing, and shore blowing, the diesel engine power on board can be reasonably utilized. the main engine and auxiliary power generation prime mover are both lng dual-fuel engines, which can reduce 90% of nitrogen oxides and 20% of carbon dioxide emissions, and can also eliminate sulfur oxides and particulate matter emissions. it is more energy-saving and environmentally friendly than traditional fuel-powered dredgers, and more economical to operate. the "new sturgeon" ship is also equipped with the most advanced and intelligent "one-button dredging" and "dredging and driving in one" systems in china, which will realize the "unmanned dredging" function under typical working conditions in china for the first time.
the "new sturgeon" ship successfully carried gas out of the river for trial voyage, filling the gap in the application of clean energy power in dredging ships in my country. in the future, the maritime departments of jiangsu and shanghai will continue to deepen the integrated cooperation of supervision and service guarantee in the yangtze river delta, jointly innovate maritime services, actively help create high-end marine engineering products, and contribute maritime power to the high-quality development of the yangtze river delta integration.
