Air China's first domestically-produced large aircraft C919 has a new look. Let's take a look at its "transformation" process↓↓↓
The whole machine painting process is not as simple as imagined. It requires many tedious processes such as whole machine polishing, cleaning, oxidation, positioning, spraying, etc.
Sanding the entire aircraft is a crucial process before painting. First, it is necessary to remove all the damaged paint layers on the "green aircraft" and thoroughly sand and polish the other paint layers of the aircraft. This is the basic prerequisite for painting a good aircraft. After sanding is completed, the painting stage begins.
The C919 aircraft fuselage design includes multiple curved surfaces and angles. These complex shapes place extremely high demands on spray painting technology. Painters need to precisely adjust the angle and strength of the spray according to the curved surfaces and angles of the aircraft to ensure that the paint surface can be evenly covered to avoid uneven thickness and missed spraying.
Unlike some aircraft models that use a two-layer coating method of "primer + topcoat", the C919 adds a layer of varnish on the basis of "primer + topcoat". The addition of varnish not only improves the adhesion and brightness of the paint surface, making the aircraft's appearance more dazzling, but also enhances the weather resistance and corrosion resistance of the paint surface. The process technicians use laser projection technology to convert the two-dimensional drawings of the entire aircraft into a three-dimensional digital model, and after completing a series of tasks such as programming, the left and right side ribbons of the fuselage are accurately projected onto the aircraft through laser, ensuring the quality and efficiency of the painting work.
After completing all the painting processes, Air China's first C919 aircraft is also the first domestically-produced large aircraft in history to be painted with the five-star red flag.
