Yangzi Evening News reported on August 24 (Reporter Liu Mengyang and Da Yue) On August 23, the 2024 Nanjing Workers Skills Competition UAV Pilot Vocational Skills Competition officially started at the Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration Crew Examination Center. More than 130 contestants from all industries in the city competed on the same stage.
The Nanjing Civil Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Experimental Zone was established in 2020 with the approval of the Civil Aviation Administration. It is one of the first batch of 13 national-level experimental zones in the country and the only one in the province. Since the beginning of this year, Nanjing has actively developed the low-altitude economy with the application of drones, and has implemented a number of applications, such as the Nanjing Maritime Department using drones to conduct inspections of the Yangtze River, the Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center carrying out blood transportation across the river, and diversified scenarios such as forest fire prevention, bridge inspection, urban comprehensive management, and emergency rescue. As more and more application scenarios are implemented, the form of low-altitude economy appears more and more frequently in people's vision.
As a first-level competition project in Nanjing, this competition is divided into two stages: theoretical knowledge competition and operational skills competition. Registration for the competition is open to employees of government agencies, enterprises and institutions across the city. It not only brings together elite drone pilots from multiple industries such as maritime, public security, transportation, communications, manufacturing, and logistics, but also showcases the talent strength and development potential of Nanjing's low-altitude economy.
On July 24, the organizing committee of the competition issued the official competition notice. The participating teams of 69 units responded positively and launched a fierce preliminary competition in the form of job training. After layers of screening, 130 contestants stood out and participated in this theoretical knowledge competition. The organizing committee of the competition strictly followed the professional assessment standards and set competition questions from the aspects of basic principles, functional configuration, flight operation, maintenance, laws and regulations of drones. In the question-answering session, the contestants used their professional skills and knowledge reserves to compete fiercely, and finally 34 contestants successfully advanced to the finals.
It is reported that this competition is jointly sponsored by Nanjing Federation of Trade Unions, Nanjing Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Nanjing Youth League Committee, undertaken by Nanjing Emerging Industry Trade Union Federation, Nanjing Maritime Safety Administration, Nanjing Aviation Sports Association, and co-organized by Pukou High-tech Zone Management Committee and other units. The final will be held on August 30, which will further stimulate the attention and enthusiasm of all sectors of society for the low-altitude economy, inject new vitality and momentum into the vigorous development of Nanjing's low-altitude economy, and mark that Nanjing has taken a solid step in promoting the construction of a talent team in the field of low-altitude economy.
