In recent years, more and more domestic film and television works have "gone overseas" to Africa and have been broadcast on TV channels and streaming platforms in many African countries.
Language is a major hurdle for TV dramas to go overseas. People will only watch TV dramas if they can understand them. With the deepening of cultural cooperation between China and Africa, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau has been using TV dramas as a starting point to translate and dub TV dramas into localized African languages. It has also broadcast excellent Chinese TV dramas on African digital TV platforms and Internet video platforms, so that African audiences can truly understand Chinese stories.
At the same time, in order to better promote the "going out" of excellent film and television dramas, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau officially established the China (Beijing) Film and Television Dubbing Base in 2020. At present, relying on the resource advantages of the film and television dubbing base, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau has carried out film purchase, dubbing, distribution, trading and other businesses, and now has the ability to dub more than 10 languages including English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Hausa, etc.

While promoting the implementation of content, some companies in Beijing's radio and television industry have also built program translation, production and training centers in Africa, using film and television dramas to tell Chinese stories, African stories and China-Africa friendship stories to China, Africa and the world. Not only are films and TV series going overseas, but exchanges and interactions between China and Africa in film and TV are also gradually deepening.
In order to let more African friends know about China's excellent film and television works, the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau has launched the "Beijing Excellent Film and Television Drama Africa Exhibition Season" (hereinafter referred to as the "Exhibition Season") since 2014. Hundreds of domestic film and television masterpieces have been broadcast overseas, building a bridge to promote the spread of Chinese culture in Africa.
The exhibition and broadcast season not only broadcast Chinese film and television works, but also held theme activities such as exhibitions, forums, and meet-and-greets, breaking the thousands of miles between China and Africa and promoting mutual understanding between the people.
To count carefully, the 2014 broadcast season was themed "Beijing Stories Entering Africa" and was held in Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria and other countries. Six outstanding contemporary Beijing-produced TV series such as "Struggle" were broadcast with English dubbing; since the 2015 broadcast season, the broadcast content has expanded from TV series to movies, and the dubbing languages have also increased to seven languages including French and Swahili; in subsequent activities, the themes of the broadcast dramas have become more diverse and the forms have become richer. In recent years, Beijing has always been at the forefront of China-Africa cooperation. The China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum has also provided more new opportunities for industrial cooperation between Beijing and African countries in the audio-visual field.

The 6th China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum and China-Africa Think Tank High-level Dialogue will be held in Beijing from August 20 to 22.
