In the latest video interview released by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts BAFTA, Swen Vincke, director of Larian Studios, the developer of Baldur's Gate 3, revealed that during the development of the game, he was actually worried that this work, which was highly praised for its rich content, was "not long enough", which led to the team actually developing a lot of content that did not enter the released version.
"Moonrise Tower actually used to have two towers," Vincke revealed. "For a long time during development there were actually ruins of the second tower. The reason we took down the extra tower was purely production-oriented: it just became too clogged up in the game, so we had to cut it."
"You'd be surprised to learn that we actually had plans to make more zones - I was initially concerned that the game would be too short, but I've always been a notoriously bad judge of game length."
This echoes some previous reports - it is said that Baldur's Gate 3 once wanted to include the locations named "Candlekeep Library" and "Red War College" from the original Baldur's Gate during the development stage. In a recent interview, the game's writing director Adam Smith told PC Gamer: "People will definitely do data mining on the content in the game. But there is a reason why we don't put them online, because we feel that they are distracting. Throwing more and constantly adjusting will only make things worse."
