Beijing News (Reporter Pei Jianfei) Since the beginning of this year, Beijing Subway Company has further streamlined the passenger flow lines of the station to improve the passenger flow capacity within the station. Recently, Dongsi Subway Station has started the "two-way transfer" mode. Passengers can choose to transfer between Line 5 and Line 6 in one of the two north-south transfer channels, reducing the walking distance by about 100 meters.

Dongsi Metro Station is the transfer station for Line 5 and Line 6. After Line 6 was opened, the station adopted a "one-way transfer" method based on comprehensive consideration of factors such as passenger volume and traffic capacity of each area. That is, passengers transferring from Line 5 to Line 6 must use the south transfer passage, and transferring from Line 6 to Line 5 must use the north transfer passage.
Since the summer travel season, the passenger flow at Dongsi Station has changed significantly. In order to further improve the travel efficiency of passengers and better meet their travel needs, after repeated research and comprehensive consideration, Beijing Subway Company has optimized the passenger flow lines of Dongsi Station and adjusted the "one-way transfer" mode to a "two-way transfer" mode. That is, the transfer channels on the north and south sides are both available for passengers in both directions to transfer, and the transfer distance can be saved by up to about 100 meters.
At the same time, taking into account the travel characteristics of two-way transfer passenger flow, the directional signs at the East Fourth Station of Line 5 and Line 6 were updated. A total of 151 existing directional signs were adjusted and updated, 70 new metal wall signs were added, and 150 square meters of various wall stickers and floor stickers were added.
After the "two-way transfer" mode was launched at Dongsi Station, Beijing Subway Company closely monitored its implementation, increased staff on duty at key locations such as transfer passages and station halls during peak hours in the morning and evening, and strengthened publicity and guidance on two-way transfers.
In recent years, Beijing Subway Company has adopted comprehensive measures and refined management measures to alleviate the problems of long waiting time and crowded stations at many large passenger flow stations such as Shahe, Huixin West Street South Exit, and Chaoyangmen by optimizing driving plans and station passenger flow lines. In the next step, Beijing Subway Company will continue to sort out station passenger flow lines, optimize station service facilities and equipment settings, and further provide passengers with a more convenient travel experience.
