At present, it is the peak tourist season, and many people choose to travel by self-driving. RV travel, which does not require scrambling for expensive hotels or queuing for toilets, and combines food, accommodation and transportation, has also become a travel method that many people yearn for. However, RV camps are uneven, and the high price and poor performance of RVs also affect the popularity of RVs. In the future, this situation is expected to change.

New policies are good for RV economy

On August 3, the State Council issued the "Opinions on Promoting High-Quality Development of Service Consumption", which proposed to promote the integrated development of business, travel, culture, sports and health, enhance the experience and interactivity of projects, launch various types of special tourism products, encourage the development of new formats such as cruise ships, RV camping, and low-altitude flights, and support the development of integrated formats such as "music + tourism", "performance + tourism", and "events + tourism".

In addition to encouraging the development of business formats such as RV camping, the development of integrated tourism such as "music + tourism", "performance + tourism", and "event + tourism" is also a form of destination tourism, which will also effectively promote the development of the RV tourism economy.

There is still a distance from "poetry and distance"

In recent years, I believe that many people have experienced going out to the countryside to camp with family and friends on weekends. Is the encouraged RV camping very different from our daily camping?

Camping enthusiast Chen Yan believes that there is no essential difference. "I think it's like the level of a hobby. You can go deeper or just experience it superficially. Whether it's suburban camping or RV camping, both can be considered a kind of self-driving tour."

Qin Cheng, who just returned to Hunan from Xinjiang in his own RV, considers himself a senior self-driving and camping player. He told reporters, "Many people have a misunderstanding that driving an RV is just like driving a house and everything can be done in the car. In fact, RVs are still very dependent on campsites or tourism infrastructure." Qin Cheng gave a simple example, "Just like a house needs water and electricity, RVs also need water and electricity. Electricity can be generated by yourself, but water still needs to be connected. Although you don't have to go to the scenic spot to queue up for the toilet with an RV, you still need to go to the campsite or service area to dump the excrement temporarily stored in the car."

On the other hand, although there are many camping sites around Changsha in the past two years, there are not many real RV camps. A camp operator told reporters that the investment in a fully equipped RV camp is much larger than that of a camping site. Parking spaces need water, electricity and drainage facilities, while camping sites have a large lawn and can start construction as long as the equipment is purchased. The high cost and low demand have prevented RV camps from becoming popular.

Waiting for the arrival of "Chinese tram"

For a long time, RVs have only developed a relatively small market as a "luxury" consumption. The small market demand and customized services also keep the price of RVs high. Qin Cheng, an RV owner, said, "My car uses a GAC chassis. The basic model costs more than 300,000 yuan. With the customized layout and larger battery, the price is more than 400,000 yuan. The light passenger car with the same chassis only costs more than 100,000 yuan."

At present, competition among Chinese automakers is increasing, and the "rolling up" scene can be seen in all segments of the passenger car market. The ability to roll up also allows Chinese automakers to exert their strength in various market segments, of course, including the RV market.

On the other hand, electricity consumption has always been a "difficult" problem for RV travel. Solar panel charging, driving charging, camping charging and other methods are the mainstream of RV charging. With the popularization of new energy vehicles, building new energy RVs has also begun to be valued by various RV manufacturers.

However, most RV factories are "modification factories" and still need to purchase mature chassis from vehicle manufacturers for customization. The "volume" of new energy passenger vehicles has not yet "spread" to new energy light buses and light trucks, and there is still a long way to go for new energy RVs to enter the real "Chinese car" era. However, it can be seen that new energy models of traditional manufacturers such as BYD T5 DM light trucks have begun to enter the plans of Chinese RV factories, and the RV market will usher in a more lively situation in the future.
