According to Electric Home, on July 31, Audi officially released the new pure electric model A6 e-tron, marking an important step in its electrification process. The car will be available in two body styles: Sportback sedan and Avant station wagon, directly competing with Mercedes-Benz EQE and BMW i5. Unlike the previous generation, the new generation A6 e-tron will be fully electrified, bringing consumers a pure electric driving experience.

With the upcoming launch of the all-electric A6 e-tron, Audi plans to adjust its traditional fuel vehicle lineup. The current fuel version of the A6 will be revamped and renamed A7 to conform to Audi's new naming strategy, that is, even-numbered models are all-electric. The production version of the A6 e-tron looks very similar to the concept cars of 2021 (Sportback) and 2022 (Avant). Minor adjustments include slightly adjusted split headlights, a more prominent black grille surround, traditional door handles and widened full-width taillights. Audi says that the high-tech matrix LED headlights and second-generation OLED taillight groups offer eight different digital light signatures, and the logo on the tailgate can also illuminate.

The Audi A6 e-tron is built on the PPE platform and is similar to the Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macanparameterpicture) EV. Three powertrains will be available at launch, with more rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models to be launched later depending on market conditions. Both the A6 e-tron and S6 e-tron are equipped with a chassis-mounted battery pack with a capacity of 100 kWh (net capacity 94.4 kWh), and the 800-volt architecture supports 270 kW DC fast charging. In terms of cruising range, the A6 e-tron is 720-750 kilometers (WLTP) and the S6 e-tron is 640-670 kilometers (WLTP), depending on the body style. Audi has also confirmed that a smaller 83 kWh battery option will be available in the future, suggesting that more affordable models will be launched.

The Audi A6 e-tron will start accepting orders in Europe in September 2024. The starting price in the German market for the A6 Sportback e-tron Performance is 75,600 euros (about 591,000 yuan), and the S6 Sportback e-tron is 99,500 euros (about 778,000 yuan). The price of the Avant body style of both models will increase by 1,650 euros (about 12,903 yuan). The Chinese market will be produced exclusively by the Audi FAW New Energy Plant in Changchun, and the A6L e-tron long-wheelbase model is expected to go on sale in 2025.
