on september 30, the 2024 "love chongqing·golden autumn consumption season" and the 16th china (chongqing) hot pot food culture festival were launched. at the launch ceremony, meituan released the "2024 chongqing hot pot industry big data report". the "report" shows that the supply and demand of chongqing's hot pot industry will be strong in 2024, hot pot consumption will be "hot", and the chain rate will continue to be higher than the national catering market. according to estimates, the consumption scale of chongqing's hot pot market will exceed 72 billion in 2024.

according to the relevant person in charge, according to incomplete statistics, in the first half of 2024, the number of hot pot stores in chongqing reached 37,000. looking at the subcategories, the number of chongqing hot pot stores included in the meituan platform increased by 4.0% year-on-year. among them, the number of hotpot restaurants in yubei district ranks first among all districts and counties in chongqing.
in terms of hot pot ingredients, beef, duck intestines and tripe are among the top three meat-based ingredients, while potatoes, bean sprouts and kelp sprouts are among the top three vegetarian ingredients. behind the list of hot products comes from the creation of the entire hot pot industry chain in chongqing. at present, chongqing has formed a whole industrial chain from hot pot ingredient base, hot pot ingredient processing to hot pot raw and auxiliary ingredient trade, and hot pot terminal consumption. according to statistics from the chongqing municipal commission of commerce, the output value of chongqing’s entire hotpot industry chain has reached 300 billion yuan.
looking at the age distribution of consumers, orders from people aged 25 to 30 accounted for 22.1%; orders from people aged 30 to 35 accounted for 26.6%. this shows that the post-90s generation has become the main force in chongqing’s hot pot consumer market. in terms of growth rate, the year-on-year growth of orders for those aged 60-65 reached 85.0%, and the year-on-year growth of orders for those aged 55-60 reached 77.5%, showing that the silver hair circle is "accelerating" in terms of hot pot consumption.
the report points out that chongqing hot pot ingredients will present four major consumption trends in the future:
first of all, as the integration of the three industries accelerates and digital construction further advances, more and more catering brands are extending the supply chain to the source, strengthening control of the supply chain, and improving the efficiency of the industrial structure will be the top priority for future competition.

furthermore, at a time when the problem of homogeneity is particularly serious, if hotpot brands want to stand out, they must upgrade from the single dimension of products, environments or services in the past to providing consumers with "scene experiences" or overall "solutions".
finally, the development model of "hotpot+" is essentially looking for value mining in subdivided areas, or scene mining. the logic behind it is to find business space under different layers.
