version 1.0 of mobile teaching: teaching for the need
filling the gaps in basic education in towns and villages is related to people's livelihood. at the teachers' day celebration in huadu district this year, xing xiang, secretary of the huadu district party committee, said that children should be provided with fairer and better education. the western education area of ​​huadu district governs tanbu town and chi ni town, which are relatively rural and remote areas. there are 18 public primary and secondary schools in total, of which 7 have less than 12 classes, and the smallest school has only more than 70 students. the problem of insufficient teachers in music, physical education and art subjects is particularly prominent.
"schools in rural areas are small in scale, and some schools are not equipped with music, physical education, and art teachers. these classes are taught by chinese, math, and english teachers on a part-time basis. in some larger schools, the music, physical education, and art teachers have fewer class hours. generally speaking, on the one hand, professional teachers do not have classes, and on the other hand, schools do not have professional teachers to teach." ye tianhua, director of the western education guidance center of the huadu district education bureau, introduced.
in order to solve the problem of shortage of professional teachers in the western part of the district and to ensure that all students in the western part of the district have the right to enjoy equal quality education, starting from 2018, the xipian education guidance center, with the high attention and strong support of the huadu district education bureau, took the lead in the district to carry out teaching and district teacher exchanges. by breaking down barriers between schools and optimizing the subject structure of teachers, it solved the problem of insufficient staffing of music, physical education and art teachers in rural areas, ensured that all courses were opened in full, and made up for the shortcomings in education development between schools, between education groups, and between urban and rural areas.
at that time, the subjects included in the mobile teaching were mainly music, physical education, art, psychology, etc., so that children could enjoy more colorful courses while receiving education in the main subjects. "children in rural areas used to sing out of tune, but after receiving education from professional music teachers, their artistic literacy has been greatly improved. in recent years, their artistic literacy monitoring results have been significantly improved in the city and district. the artistic works of teachers and students in the west district have also won many awards in competitions at the district level and above." ye tianhua said.
version 2.0 of mobile teaching: mobile teaching for development
since the implementation of the teaching and exchange rotation work, students are good at "learning" and teachers are good at "teaching", and the teaching quality in the western part of huadu district has been further improved. in 2023, huadu district began to explore the 2.0 version of teaching, evolving from "exchange" to "wheel", from "lack of teachers and incomplete classes" in schools to "having teachers and offering complete classes" and then to "strong teachers and good classes", attracting more schools to participate, and at the same time expanding teaching subjects from music, physical education and art to all subjects, continuously promoting the high-quality development of huadu education.
"in the past, teaching work was mainly limited to two schools. now it has increased to three schools or even more. for example, while a school accepts music teachers from other schools, it also sends an art teacher to teach in another school." ye tianhua explained the "wheel-style" teaching work model.
from the passive "teaching for needs" to the active "teaching for development", the teaching work model of huadu district has been continuously updated and iterated, and has become more mature. when teachers go to the schools where teaching is provided, they are no longer just providing assistance and filling the gaps in subject education, but also learning from more experienced teachers in the same subject and improving their own abilities.
wu yongqi is an art teacher who participates in the teaching work in huadu district. she teaches at liantang primary school from lantian primary school where she teaches every week. in order to improve her professional knowledge, she also teaches at tanbu yahu primary school to learn printmaking knowledge from the more professional printmaking teachers of the school, and then applies what she has learned to the teaching work at liantang primary school.
