phoenix.com technology news: on september 9, at the tcl poland manufacturing center visit and exchange meeting, phoenix.com technology and other media had a dialogue with chen chuanlun, general manager of mogia technology overseas manufacturing center. during the dialogue, chen chuanlun revealed that mogia technology will actively expand its display business to achieve diversified development. as an important member of tcl, mogia technology has already taken a leading position in the field of tv oem. this entry into the display market will make full use of the high-quality panel resources provided by tcl huaxing and rely on mogia technology's advantages in production and manufacturing to create competitive display products.

in addition, chen chuanlun said that mogia technology has invested in ai at the technical level. he said that through ai technology, mogia technology can detect product quality more accurately. for example, in terms of image quality detection, the ai system can learn and remember the differences between different products, thereby realizing automated detection and improving detection efficiency and accuracy.

according to chen chuanlun, 95% of the company's purchases come from china. chen chuanlun emphasized that chinese suppliers have significant advantages in cost control. he said: "china is the cheapest, cheaper than any other country, even vietnam can't compare to china."

summary of key points of the conversation:

1. now that the manufacturing industry in poland or europe has moved out, what is tcl’s main source of financial revenue?

2. when mogia started production, many tcl products were also included. during the oem process, will there be some different policies in europe?

3. during the period of saturated competition in the tv panel industry, tcl will launch new product lines. what will be the results of such a strategy?

4. chen chuanlun said that supply chain procurement is mainly from china. china is cheaper than any other country, even vietnam cannot compare with china.

the following is a transcript of the conversation between chen chuanlun, general manager of mogia technology's overseas manufacturing center, and phoenix technology (part of the conversation has been deleted):

media: how much higher is the production efficiency of tcl's cooperation with brands than that of the brands themselves? does this kind of cooperation represent an adjustment in china's manufacturing strategy?

chen chuanlun:some brands do not have their own manufacturing, and some brands are gradually giving up manufacturing. for example, some of our japanese customers sold their factories and focused on branding. another type of brand found that the cost of the entire chain from design to manufacturing was relatively high. when compared with us, we found that our cost from design to manufacturing was lower than theirs, so they gradually stopped manufacturing.

media: now that poland or europe’s local manufacturing industry has moved abroad, what is the main source of financial revenue?

chen chuanlun:my opinion may not be correct. i think they are more in the medical industry, but i don't know if gaming is considered a big deal.

media:a lot of manufacturing in europe has gone abroad. the manufacturing center of europe is germany. in fact, hungary, poland and the czech republic, three central and eastern european countries, have released their own production. what you just said includes two issues, one is manufacturing, and the other is supply chain. the supply chain in eastern europe is definitely the best in china. manufacturing and assembly are also based on the supply chain. the supply chain is generally concentrated in one region. europe is mainly centered in germany.

chen chuanlun:i think the automotive industry accounts for a relatively large proportion, and eastern europe may be engaged in the production of automotive parts.

chen chuanlun:our polish factory belongs to tcl technology, a subsidiary of tcl. the stock code is 000100. tcl technology has many different industries. we call it mogia technology. the right side is the entire organizational structure of mogia technology. the entire mogia technology is an integrated organizational structure of research, production and sales. looking at the sales part, there are strategic sales centers and overseas sales centers. the monitor is the display.

i just mentioned the second and third tracks in the workshop. the display business center is the second track product that is currently the largest. the so-called strategic sales and overseas sales, the strategy is that we target some head customers and have an organizational structure dedicated to providing services to them.

overseas sales are targeted at customers in various countries. except for the top customers, they are all installed in the overseas sales center. as for products, we have a product center, product appearance design and other aspects, which are in the product center. there is also a r&d center, and then supply chain manufacturing. for the manufacturing part, we have a china manufacturing center, which has chengdu factory and huizhou factory, mainly in these two places.in addition, i am responsible for the overseas manufacturing centers, which are located in poland, mexico, india, and vietnam.

because our organization is relatively large, we have an entire operations management center, including the kpi management of each department. other parts include planning, finance, quality, human resources, and administrative logistics. this is the organizational structure of our entire mojia technology.

mogia technology's global business distribution covers major countries in the world. as i just said, we have strategic customers and regional customers. these small customers other than large customers are called "regional customers", so we basically cover all major tv markets in the world.

mogia's global industrial layout provides customers with one-stop service. from design to appearance, r&d, to production and sales, we have one-stop service as a whole.this section shows the current layout of all of mogia’s factories, including huizhou, chengdu, poland, india, mexico, and vietnam.

here i will introduce the entire supply chain planning. our main material preparation is still in the huizhou factory.why do we need to set up a production base? the main reason is because of tariffs. for example, mexico itself belongs to the north american free trade agreement, and production there is zero tariff. if it is produced in other countries, such as china, it was 3.9% before the tariff was added. now it is 3.9% plus 7.5%. it seems like this. for a while, it was 3.9% plus 14%. now it is 3.9% plus 7.5%. so we have a manufacturing base in the mexican factory.the part on the right contains some basic information about the mexican factory, such as it is only an 8-minute drive from the port, airport, and us border.

media: what percentage of the global tv market is currently produced by oem? all these factories combined.

chen chuanlun:the whole moga?

media: yes, 30%?

chen chuanlun:no, we produce about 13 million units a year. we may need to check the volume of the oem market. it should be more than 10%. i don’t remember it clearly. it takes 25 days from huizhou to mexico and 35 days from huizhou to poland. this is by sea. it takes 21 days by china-europe express. if everything goes well, it will be a little less, 18 or 19 days. the shortest is 14 or 15 days. it takes 20 days to india and about 10 days to vietnam. the factory in vietnam has just started.

media: which ones were transported out through the chengdu factory?

chen chuanlun:to poland?

media: is it huizhou that is going to india and vietnam?

chen chuanlun:yes, they are all shipped from huizhou by sea. it also depends on the product. some products are also shipped from huizhou to poland by sea. poland basically uses these two lines. unless there is a port strike, congestion, or the red sea incident, we try to use the railway. the railway should be more expensive now, right?

chen chuanlun:now it’s basically half and half. it’s very expensive now because it’s the peak season and there is a shortage of cabinets.

chen chuanlun:the railway price is a little higher, sometimes a little higher, sometimes much higher. looking at the sea freight price, the price is about the same, but its container volume is relatively small.

media: from a global perspective, has the layout of factories been completed?

chen chuanlun:no, we are still developing new bases and brazil is also under consideration.

chen chuanlun:for africa and brazil, we are still evaluating whether to build them ourselves or find a joint venture to provide production services to our customers.

media: you once said that mogia technology is divided into the first product line, the second product line, and the third product line, and that you are making some new arrangements. now the tv panel industry is saturated with competition, and we will have new product lines. what are the results of this strategy? what are your expectations for the future?

chen chuanlun:mogia has become the number one oem in the tv industry. if we want to grow further, we must consider whether there are other products of the same nature. because tcl itself has tcl huaxing, which provides us with screens and also makes monitor screens. if mogia can get a certain share of the monitor business, it will also be another outlet for tcl huaxing, which is good for tcl. mogia itself has reached a certain stage of growth in tvs. if we still hope to move forward, we must expand similar products. monitors are also a big pie, comparable to tvs.

there may be some commercial displays, or we have also considered electronic signs, so-called electronic signs, like the electronic signs at mcdonald's, which can be used to order food. we will consider products that require screen displays. we also consider laptops. in addition, some customers have needs. in addition to making displays, many of them are in the it industry and need to produce computers. those companies will ask us, now that we have made displays, do we want to make all-in-one computers or laptops? this will gradually expand.

media: what is the current ratio? what percentage is for monitors? what percentage is for commercial displays?

chen chuanlun:televisions are the first, and monitors are now ranked fifth. the price of monitors is relatively low. if you look at the volume, the number of televisions sold this year is about 13 million, and the number of monitors is 7 to 8 million.

media: what do you think is the biggest supply chain challenge in europe?

chen chuanlun:the rising labor costs, the balance of employment in the peak and off-seasons, and in the long run, the future green and carbon emission adjustments, that is, the impact of tax regulations, also require the long-term planning of the entire supply chain.

media:are there other brands besides tcl in our oem business? what is the approximate proportion of tcl?

chen chuanlun:it depends on the situation. we are now about 60% for tcl and 40% for the others. tcl does not have its own factory in europe, but it has factories in other places, such as mexico and huizhou. it only does not have a factory in europe, so it must share it with mogia.

media:the factory in poland was acquired and renovated. compared with some factories in other regions, what is its level of automation? has any upgrade been done since the acquisition 20 years ago?

chen chuanlun:we did a lot of things after the acquisition. one of them was to improve the supply chain. we spent our own money to build a warehouse. we didn’t have this warehouse before. we had to send all the finished machines to other places and rent a warehouse. so there was a transportation fee and storage fee. so we built our own warehouse. in addition, we only had four production lines at the beginning. now we have nine lines, and the number of production lines has increased. many robots, stacking, film wrapping, and automatic packaging were added by us later.

media: among the several companies we outsource to this year, are there any that have said they are upgrading their technology, such as investing in ai?

chen chuanlun:i don’t know about design, but we are indeed using ai in manufacturing.

media: do we make it ourselves, or do companies provide it to us? it's a demand for joint development.

chen chuanlun:the customer doesn't have it, we mainly do it ourselves. for example, for product debugging and testing, we are considering using ai mode, which can learn, for example, to check the picture and judge whether it is good or bad. we use ai concepts, and it will remember the difference between good and bad. after a period of time, it can automatically test without human inspection. this is what the company is considering.

media: i would like to ask a question about the supply chain. are our purchases mainly from domestic sources?

chen chuanlun:mainly domestic.

chen chuanlun:95%。

media: because it’s cheap?

chen chuanlun:the cheapest in the country.

chen chuanlun:yes, the cost is lower.

chen chuanlun:china is the cheapest, cheaper than any other country, even vietnam cannot compare to china.

media: is this from the perspective of labor productivity?

chen chuanlun:in terms of cost, for example, making a cardboard box or an injection molded shell is more expensive than in china. the wage in vietnam is about 1/3 of that in china, but its actual efficiency is low.
