this fall semester, the revised textbooks will be put into use in the first grade of primary school and the first grade of junior high school; in 2025, they will be used in the first, second, and third grades of primary school and the first and second grades of junior high school; and in 2026, all grades in the compulsory education stage will be replaced.

so why the revision?

one of the outstanding features of the revised textbooks is that they are distinctly contemporary. for example, the seventh-grade chinese textbook has added a new article, "the light of youth," which tells the story of huang wenxiu. this is a text created specifically for the new textbook.

in the newly revised chinese textbooks, a “sorting and communication” section has been added to primary school grades, a “comprehensive reading practice” has been added to junior high school grades, and the writing topics have been adjusted.
