the 2024 china automotive industry development (teda) international forum (hereinafter referred to as the "teda automotive forum") was held in tianjin from august 29 to september 1.

at the high-level summit on august 31, liu yu, deputy general manager of baic group, delivered a speech entitled "open cooperation, intelligent leading the future, transformation and innovation in the new era".

currently, the chinese automobile market is entering a new pattern, and baic has conducted internal thinking around topics such as artificial intelligence and autonomous driving.

“we believe that the capabilities of traditional manufacturing companies are no longer able to fully cover these areas. therefore, in addition to the areas that we can control, we also need a lot of openness, cooperation and innovation to promote industry progress based on new target groups, usage scenarios and needs, as well as the needs of more consumers. this is the characteristic and mission that our era should have.”

in liu yu's view, there are multiple dimensions to building a good car. combining its own resource endowments and understanding of the products, baic chose the two keywords "safety and health" as the basis.

in terms of safety, baic has put a lot of effort into the body of its cars. take the beijing bj40 as an example. the new beijing bj40 can drive to alashan without any modification. after testing, it can still drive normally after more than 20 consecutive rollovers. in terms of health, the models represented by the polar fox have no odor in the car. in the measurement of various voc indicators in the car, no matter how many hours of exposure to the sun, the indicators are very good.

with the rapid development of intelligence, many car companies have announced progress in the field of end-to-end large-scale models of autonomous driving. in this regard, liu yu bluntly stated that in terms of high-level autonomous driving, consumers will sooner or later regard autonomous driving as standard.

"when i first entered the automotive industry, manual transmission and manual air conditioning were standard, and abs was optional, but now these have become standard. nowadays, everyone wants to rest when they get in the car and doesn't want to be so tired. at the end of 2021, when i drove an l2.9 car, although the left-turn mixed flow of people and vehicles at the intersection was not as comfortable as that of humans, it could process some information from one traffic light to another. under the premise of complying with regulations, this progress will definitely make consumers happy. therefore, whether it is high-level autonomous driving or autonomous driving solutions with costs suitable for ordinary consumers and less technical challenges, they are the focus of our promotion."
