On August 21, Metro Line 12 started trial operation in a fully enclosed environment.
The Beijing News reporter learned from the Beijing Major Project Office that the three subway lines, Beijing Subway Line 3 Phase I, Line 12, and the remaining section of Changping Line South Extension Phase I, which will be opened this year, have recently started "running maps" in preparation for opening at the end of the year. What are the high-value and distinctive stations on these three lines? On the morning of August 21, the Beijing News reporter visited them in advance.
Line 12
Each station has its own characteristics, reflecting the characteristics of the surrounding area
The reporter saw at the Dongba West Station on Line 12 that the station's abstract color blocks were sprayed to simulate the interweaving and shuttling, heading into the future and crossing the starry sky, giving passengers a strong visual impact. The overall space is concise and bright, simple yet fashionable. At present, the line has begun to "run the map", that is, before the subway line is opened for operation, the entire line will be simulated according to the train operation map plan. During the interview, empty trains stopped and passed by the station.
The reporter took a test ride in advance, and the light blue seats in the carriage gave people a relaxing and comfortable feeling. The train quickly arrived at Tuofangying Station from Dongba West Station. The design of this station is quite industrial art style. Tuofangying Station is a three-story underground island platform with four entrances and exits.
Tuofangying Station is a special station on the entire line. Its decoration is combined with the historical and cultural characteristics of the surrounding areas. The overall style is to simplify the industrial weathering, connect time and space through artistic techniques, and reflect the historical, cultural and artistic atmosphere of the station. Zheng Darun, project manager of the 17th section of Line 12 of Guangdong Huasui Construction Group Co., Ltd., introduced that the walls of the public area of the station use large areas of colorful artistic murals. Since the station is close to the 798 Art District, the typical elements of the 798 Art District are extracted for stage presentation. Combined with the mottled red brick walls, the criss-crossing pipes on the top, the soft chandeliers, and the simple and powerful steel structure art columns, the imprint of the times perfectly combines history and reality, industry and art, and exquisiteness and ruggedness.
In addition to the two stations visited by the reporter, Jimenqiao Station, which is the remaining section of the Changping Line South Extension Phase I and transfers to Line 12, is also a highlight of the line. The station hall space uses modern light and shadow techniques to render the spatial atmosphere, showing the poetic and picturesque "Jimen Misty Rain". The artwork "Green Water and Green Mountains" at Jimenqiao Station expresses love and praise for the beautiful mountains and rivers of the motherland.
Using "bridge" as a symbol to interpret the cultural changes from ancient times to the present
The reporter learned that Metro Line 12 spans across many bridge areas in the Third Ring Road in terms of geographical scope, and there are many cultural relics distributed along the line, including ancient buildings that carry the years and contain a deep history, old city culture that is full of charm and highlights traditions, such as mysterious scrolls that hide stories of the past, and multicultural areas such as international exchange areas that show openness and tolerance. Therefore, this line is precisely positioned as a "bridge of integration" that fully demonstrates cultural microcosms and international exchanges. The entire line uses the regional characteristic "bridge" as a symbol to connect the east and the west, and at the same time interprets the changes in the bridge in materials, functions, and space to express cultural changes from west to east and from ancient times to the present.
In terms of structural form processing, the segmented design is used to maximize the restoration of the building body, release the station space, and increase the height of the space, so that passengers can have a better riding experience. For example, Sanyuanqiao Station, as a transfer station for Line 10, Line 12 and Airport Line, has become a highlight of the line with its unique geographical location and design. The station is decorated with "Kyoto Bridge Rippling Shadow" as the theme. Entering the station is like traveling through a modern art space. The designer uses the surrounding overpasses as symbols, extracts the criss-crossing streamlined forms, and uses modern design techniques and lighting to create a simple and flexible public space, reflecting the characteristics of international exchanges in the region. The station artwork "Sanyuan Speed, Urban Miracle" adopts a flat composition, showing the ancient and modern style of the city from west to east, and uses the image of Sanyuan Bridge as a link to connect the history and future of urban development.
Line 3 Phase 1
Incorporating ancient architectural elements with the theme of "Taste of Beijing"
The decoration design concept of the entire Phase 1 of Line 3 (Dongsishitiao-Dongba North) is based on the theme of "Taste of the Capital". Through the combination of traditional Chinese ancient architectural arch elements and station space, the architectural structure of each station is analyzed, and cultural elements are superimposed on the standard formal logic. They are integrated with the station column span guides and related equipment and facilities to restore the functional characteristics of traditional ancient buildings in the station and continue the role of traditional ancient buildings.
On this basis, the transfer station further explores the regional elements around the station, giving the station different design elements to present the style of the station, reflecting the overall pattern of the city from small details. For example, Dongsishitiao Station, as a subway platform-to-platform transfer station planned in the early 1950s, pays tribute to the past station space, completes the "hand-in-hand" with the classic Line 2 through modern techniques, and realizes the integration of history and modernity in preservation and renewal, continuing the existing classic materials and parametric geometric sequence sense, forming a tribute to the classic station space.
In addition, Phase I of Line 3 and Line 12 have also made new breakthroughs in the application of new technologies. Both lines use a unified signal system format, design principles and interface standards, and have the ability to achieve interconnection and 4+4 flexible marshaling. "Specifically, during peak hours, we can connect two 4-carriage vehicles to achieve 8-carriage operation. At the same time, Phase I of Line 3 and Line 12 highlight the principle of intensive sharing. The two lines will build the Dongba Depot at the same site, share a comprehensive building, and merge and integrate professional equipment rooms such as communications, signals, integrated control, access control, and FAS. Therefore, in terms of functional design, they have the conditions for cross-line operation of Line 3 and Line 12." Du Hongmin, director of the System Equipment Department of the Third Branch of Beijing Investment Rail Transit Company, said.
According to Su Yunxiao, deputy director of the Third Rail Division of the Municipal Major Project Office, according to the annual construction plan, this year Beijing's rail transit will realize the initial operation of three lines (sections), including the first phase of Line 3 (Dongsishitiao-Dongbabei), Line 12 (Sijiqing-Dongbabei), and the remaining section of the first phase of Changping Line South Extension (Xitucheng-Jimenqiao), with a total length of about 45.3 kilometers. After completion and opening to traffic, it will further enhance the layout and transportation capacity of the rail transit network, improve the travel structure of residents in surrounding areas, and optimize urban functions.
【Line conditions】
●Phase 1 of Line 3 (Dongsishitiao-Dongbabei) is an east-west backbone line passing through Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. It is 15.7 kilometers long and has 10 stations with an average station spacing of about 1.6 kilometers. There are 6 transfer stations, which connect with 6 lines. Phase 1 of Line 3 connects important functional areas, commercial areas, residential areas and comprehensive transportation hubs such as Dongsishitiao, Workers' Stadium, Sanlitun, Chaoyang Park, Shifoying, Beijing Chaoyang Station, Yaojiayuan, and Dongba, which is of great significance to improving people's livelihood, promoting urban development, alleviating traffic pressure in the eastern region, and improving the level of urban transportation services.
● Line 12 (Sijiqing-Dongba North) is a rail transit backbone line that runs through the central city from east to west, passing through the four districts of Haidian, Xicheng, Dongcheng and Chaoyang. It is about 28.9 kilometers long and has a total of 20 stations, including 13 transfer stations, which form transfers with 12 north-south lines. The eastern end of Line 12 connects Dongba and Jiuxianqiao areas, which will effectively promote local infrastructure construction, drive environmental transformation in surrounding areas, give full play to the guiding function of rail transit in economic construction, and effectively alleviate the east-west traffic pressure of Beijing's North Third Ring Road, which is of great significance to improving the level of urban transportation services.
●The remaining section of the Changping Line South Extension Phase I (Xitucheng-Jimen Bridge) is 0.7 kilometers long and is part of the Changping Line South Extension Phase I project. Among them, the Xi'erqi-Qinghe section and the Qinghe-Xitucheng section have been opened for operation in 2021 and 2023 respectively. After the opening of the remaining section (Xitucheng-Jimen Bridge), it can be transferred to Line 12 at Jimen Bridge Station, which will significantly improve the overall operation and service capabilities of the Changping Line South Extension, strengthen the connection with the municipal road network, and provide more transportation options and travel convenience for surrounding residents.
