A 13,000TEU dual-fuel powered container ship of CMA CGM being built at the terminal.
On August 19, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and China State Shipbuilding Corporation and Pacific International Lines (Private) Ltd. formally signed a contract to build five 13,000TEU liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel powered large container ships. This is another batch of large container ship orders undertaken by Hudong-Zhonghua following the four 14,000TEU methanol fuel reserved large container ships in June. So far, Hudong-Zhonghua has completed and held orders for nearly 100 large container ships, ranking among the top major shipyards in the world, and continues to consolidate its leading position in the construction of ultra-large and large container ships.
This type of ship is a green and environmentally friendly container ship independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua and tailored for shipowners. It has a total length of 335 meters, a beam of 51 meters, a depth of 27.2 meters, a maximum container capacity of 13,000 TEU (20-foot standard container), and can carry 2,200 refrigerated containers. It is equipped with an LNG dual-fuel propulsion system and a 12,000 cubic meter B-type LNG fuel tank independently developed by the company, ensuring a super endurance of 22,000 nautical miles in gas mode.
This type of ship has better environmental protection performance. Hudong-Zhonghua has specially adopted the intelligent exhaust gas recirculation (iCER) system to improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions. At the same time, the bow is equipped with a self-designed windshield to further reduce navigation resistance. These innovative technologies and designs make the ship have the characteristics of low comprehensive energy consumption, strong ship speed and excellent environmental protection, especially on the basis of meeting the most stringent international environmental regulations, providing customers with more efficient and economical marine transportation solutions.
It is reported that Hudong-Zhonghua is currently building the world's largest 24,000TEU dual-fuel and conventional fuel ultra-large container ship, 15,000TEU and 13,000TEU dual-fuel large container ships, etc. In addition, the 14,000TEU methanol fuel reserved large container ship has also entered the detailed design and production preparation stage, and the delivery date has been scheduled to after 2028.
