Looking back at history, China-Pakistan cooperation has achieved fruitful results
President Lula is proud of his contribution to deepening cooperation between the two countries. In 2004, during his first visit to China as Brazilian President, the two countries established the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee, strengthening their strategic partnership. The China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee is essential to coordinate actions in various fields and deepen cooperation between the two governments and societies.
The article recalled that since 2009, China has further consolidated its position as Brazil's main business partner. In the past seven years, Brazil has been China's main source of agricultural product imports, contributing to China's food security.
According to Brazilian statistics, in 2023, the bilateral trade volume between China and Brazil reached a record high of US$157 billion, of which Brazil's trade surplus reached an unprecedented US$51 billion. Brazil's total exports to China reached US$104 billion, exceeding its total exports to the United States and the European Union.
According to the China-Brazil Business Council (CBBC), Brazil is the fourth largest destination for Chinese overseas investment, accounting for 4.8% of its total global investment. These investments are crucial to Brazil's promotion of infrastructure and industrial development and modernization, and are coordinated with Brazil's new version of the "Accelerated Growth Plan" and the "New Industry of Brazil" plan.
China-Pakistan bilateral cooperation is not limited to the export of agricultural products. In fact, China-Pakistan cooperation at the strategic level precedes the commercial field. The China-Pakistan Earth Resources Satellite Cooperation Project began in 1988 and is a milestone in South-South cooperation in the field of high technology. It not only strengthened the construction of space infrastructure, but also promoted research, innovation and common development in major areas.
Looking ahead, the prospects for China-Pakistan cooperation are promising
In view of the long-standing close cooperation between the two countries, President Lula chose China as one of the first countries he visited during his third term as president. During his visit to China in April last year, he stressed that he hoped that Brazil-China relations could go beyond the field of trade.
The article further stated that the China-Pakistan Earth Resources Satellite cooperation project 40 years ago was crucial to the two countries' leading the development of aerospace technology. Now the two sides can open up new cooperation in cutting-edge technology fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors and renewable energy, laying the foundation for the next 50 years of cooperation.
China and Brazil will work to promote exchanges between universities in the two countries and increase the number of exchange students and visiting scholars. Brazil looks forward to more Chinese tourists and more Brazilians to visit China. The two countries should work together to address climate change and transition to clean energy, especially wind, solar and biomass energy.
In addition to intensive bilateral cooperation, China and Brazil are also long-term partners in the BRICS, G20, the United Nations and other international forums, jointly promoting peace, security and development. China and Brazil are committed to promoting global governance reform and striving to make the global governance system more efficient, fair and more representative of the interests of the "Global South".
China and Pakistan have been working closely on global concerns and continue to contribute to building a multipolar world order based on multilateralism and international law. Both China and Pakistan support dialogue and promote the use of diplomacy and negotiation to resolve issues, which has been fully demonstrated in the response to the Ukrainian conflict.
The article finally emphasized that based on a solid and strong foundation of cooperation, China and Pakistan are paving the way for promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level.
