"I didn't expect to see you again so soon. Do you think BYD's recent new car release speed is a bit surprising?" On the evening of August 8, at the BYD 2025 Seal and Seal 07DM-i launch conference, BYD Group Executive Vice President and Passenger Vehicle Chief Operating Officer He Zhiqi said. He pointed out that BYD Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu predicted at the beginning of the year that the transformation of the automobile industry has entered the deep water zone, and the development of new energy vehicles will only accelerate, and will never give companies the opportunity to slow down. Based on this judgment, BYD must go all out and continue to accelerate its development.

In fact, BYD's new car releases are indeed accelerating. China Business News reporters observed that since BYD released the Qin L DM-i in Xi'an on May 28 this year, the company launched the Song L DM-i and Song PLUS DM-i in Zhengzhou on July 25, less than two months later. The 2025 Haibao and Haibao 07DM-i released in Shenzhen this time were only two weeks apart from the last release.

It is worth noting that BYD's accelerated release of new cars is also due to its affirmation of the current "involution" in the automotive industry. As early as the 2024 China Automotive Forum on July 13, Li Yunfei, general manager of BYD's brand and public relations department, said that the Chinese automotive industry is constantly improving in the "involution", and the more it is involution, the stronger it will be.

New car launches accelerate

BYD's recent acceleration of new car launches stems from the rapid increase in the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in China and the continuous expansion of BYD's own production and sales scale. He Zhiqi pointed out that the pace of new car launches is accelerated not only to cater to market demand, but also to meet the growing expectations of users.

"In recent years, China's new energy vehicle market has developed rapidly. In the first four weeks of July this year, the domestic new energy vehicle insurance penetration rate reached 50.1% for the first time, and is expected to exceed the 50% mark within the whole month. This is a historic moment for China's new energy vehicle industry, marking that new energy vehicles have truly become the mainstream of the market, while fuel vehicles are gradually being marginalized. The popularization of new energy vehicles has not only changed people's travel methods, but the development of intelligence is also changing people's car experience. Therefore, we must not only keep up with the pace of the market, but also keep up with changes in user needs." He Zhiqi said.

He also mentioned that BYD's new energy vehicle production speed is also accelerating significantly. From 2021 to 2023, BYD's annual sales will increase from 730,000 vehicles to 1.86 million vehicles, and then to 3.02 million vehicles, achieving an almost doubling growth every year. In July this year, BYD's sales exceeded 340,000 vehicles, setting a new monthly sales record. At the same time, BYD also became the world's first automaker to achieve the 8 millionth new energy vehicle off the production line.

"It took us only three years to grow from the 1 millionth to the 8 millionth vehicle, and just three months from the 7 millionth to the 8 millionth vehicle. BYD is constantly breaking historical records in the Chinese and global automotive industries at an extremely fast pace," added He Zhiqi.

It is worth noting that in March this year, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu predicted that the market penetration rate of new energy vehicles will exceed 50% in the next three months, replacing traditional fuel vehicles to become the mainstream of the market. Today, this prediction has been verified, and this historic node is 11 years ahead of the original national planning target of 2035.

As market penetration increases, BYD is also accelerating its efforts to seize market share. In May this year, BYD launched the fifth-generation DM technology, covering models from sedans to SUVs. In July, BYD's sales exceeded 342,300 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 28.83%. Its monthly sales have exceeded 300,000 vehicles for five consecutive months. Against the backdrop of China's new energy vehicle penetration exceeding 50%, BYD's market share has also remained at one-third of the country.

Listing price hits a new low

The 2025 Seal released by BYD this time is the first sedan built on the e-platform 3.0 Evo, and it is also the first model of the BYD brand equipped with laser radar.

This new car integrates many of BYD's advanced technologies, including CTB battery-body integration, efficient 12-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, intelligent current boost fast charging, intelligent terminal fast charging, intelligent voltage boost fast charging, full-scene intelligent pulse self-heating technology, and iTAC intelligent torque control system, among other 13 key technologies.

In addition, the entire 2025 HaiSeal series is equipped with a 1200V silicon carbide electronic control system and a 23,000rpm motor, the world's highest mass-produced speed, with a top speed of 240km/h, making it BYD's "fastest model" to date.

In terms of intelligence, the 2025 HaiSeal introduces the "Eye of God" advanced intelligent driving assistance system DiPilot 300, equipped with laser radar, supporting a variety of intelligent driving scenarios such as high-speed navigation and city navigation.

At the same time, BYD also released the first medium and large sedan equipped with the fifth-generation DM technology, the Haibao 07 DM-i, which has outstanding energy consumption performance. According to on-site information, under NEDC conditions, the Haibao 07 DM-i's fuel consumption is as low as 3.4L/100km, and the comprehensive cruising range with full fuel and full power can exceed 2,000km.

In terms of intelligent configuration, the entire range of HaiSeal 07 DM-i is equipped with DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system as standard, which can achieve L2 level driving assistance function.

The "Double Leopard" models released this time mark BYD's comprehensive upgrade of the two major technical platforms, the e-platform 3.0 Evo and the fifth-generation DM, further improving core technology, efficiency and performance.

It is worth noting that the prices of BYD Ocean Network's two new cars have also hit new lows. The starting price of the 2025 Haibao is 175,800 yuan, which is 4,000 yuan lower than the starting price of 179,800 yuan for the 2024 model. The starting price of the five configuration models of Haibao 07 DM-i is 139,800 yuan, which is 10,000 yuan lower than the starting price of the current Haibao DM-i of 149,800 yuan.
