On the banks of the Xiangjiang River, at the Changsha New Port of Chenglingji Port Group in Hunan Province, a large number of newly manufactured cars "took the ship" out of the province; at Changsha North Station, the China-Europe express train loaded with "Changsha-made" engineering machinery parts and other goods set off for Europe; at Changsha Huanghua International Airport, a Boeing 737 freighter carrying 20 tons of imported fruits landed smoothly, marking the smooth resumption of the Changsha-Bangkok all-cargo route.

Changsha was hot in early August, and the "land, sea and air" freight market was also hot. Behind the busy ports, stations and airports is the growth of related freight volume and the burst of development vitality.

Water transport: A large number of newly produced cars are transported in and out by boat

On August 7, at Changsha New Port, cranes on the shore kept running and trucks were shuttling back and forth. On the rails next to it, a train was loading cargo. After a batch of nearly 7,400 tons of Sierra Leone ore powder arrived at Changsha New Port by ship, it was transported to Jiangxi Pinggang via the "rail-water combined transport" mode from Changsha New Port's dedicated railway.

Affected by Typhoon Gemi, Changsha and other places once again experienced heavy rainfall from July 26, and the water level of the Xiangjiang River rose rapidly, and the navigable waters of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha were completely closed. On July 31, the navigable waters of the Xiangjiang River in Changsha were lifted, and ships gathered at the port, and Changsha New Port ushered in a full recovery in production.

The port has been busy in recent days. Nearly 300 SAIC Volkswagen cars are neatly parked in the waiting area of Changsha New Port's car ro-ro terminal. These cars are produced in the Changsha factory and are waiting to be shipped to Shanghai, Anhui, Jiangsu and other places.

In the unloading area, there are 500 new cars that have just been shipped from other places. After unloading them, the staff will load and ship them in an orderly manner. This batch of cars will be shipped to various dealerships in the province for sale.

From January to July this year, Changsha New Port handled 6.0978 million tons of bulk cargo, a year-on-year increase of 21.1%. Among them, the port's daily throughput on July 11 reached 51,741 tons, setting a new daily throughput record this year. From January to July, Changsha New Port's dedicated railway transport volume reached 641,700 tons.

"Changsha New Port has developed from a shipping port and arrival port to a truly multimodal integrated hub, and the port's economic hinterland has further extended to North China, South China and Southwest China." Xin Hua, general manager of Hunan Changsha New Port Co., Ltd., introduced that in the future, Changsha New Port will continue to focus on serving social and economic development, improving port service capabilities, reducing comprehensive social logistics costs, and promoting the port to achieve high-quality development.

Land transport: The number of China-Europe Express trains (Changsha) increased by 40.5% year-on-year

At around 10 p.m. on August 8, at Changsha North Station, less than 5 kilometers away from Changsha New Port, a China-Europe freight train loaded with engineering machinery parts and other goods produced in Changsha departed for Europe.

As an important trade channel connecting Hunan with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Europe Express (Changsha) has been operating 12 routes on a regular basis in the 10 years since its launch, covering nearly 30 countries and regions in Asia and Europe.

"The China-Europe Express provides more end-to-end logistics solutions for local companies, further leveraging the production capacity advantages of Changsha and even Hunan." A relevant person in charge of the Changsha Railway Logistics Center of the Guangdong Railway Group introduced that since the beginning of this year, the Guangdong Railway Group has increased its efforts to organize China-Europe Express trains to Europe. The Changsha Railway Logistics Center has established a "one-to-one" marketing team and technical team to visit companies, customize efficient, cost-effective and stable transportation products based on the company's transportation needs, and provide suitable container transportation solutions based on the characteristics of the goods.

As the number of trains increases, the center further optimizes its operating procedures and opens a green channel in accordance with the "three priorities" principle of "priority organization, priority loading and unloading, and priority inspection" to ensure that the loading of the trains is completed one and a half hours in advance.

From January to June this year, the China-Europe Express (Changsha) dispatched 604 trains in and out of the country, a year-on-year increase of 40.5%, ranking among the top in the country.

"Not only has the number of China-Europe train trips increased, but the cargo structure has also changed significantly." The above-mentioned person in charge introduced that among the goods transported by the China-Europe Express (Changsha), compared with the original small commodities and other categories, the proportion of high value-added goods such as automobiles and construction machinery has further increased. Local large-scale manufacturing companies such as Sany Heavy Industry and Zoomlion Heavy Industry have successively launched special trains, and the China-Europe Express has become a new export transportation channel for local manufacturing companies.

Air transport: Let more imported fruits fly to Changsha

On the afternoon of August 8, a Boeing 737 freighter loaded with 20 tons of imported fruits landed smoothly at Changsha Huanghua International Airport, marking the smooth resumption of the Changsha-Bangkok all-cargo route.

It is reported that the Changsha-Bangkok all-cargo route was opened in 2022, but was suspended in March this year. After the resumption of this route, the route is planned to operate 2 flights per week in the initial operation, and the frequency will be increased in the later stage according to market demand. The export goods carried are mainly high-value-added goods such as electronic products, and the import goods are mainly fresh goods such as Thai durian, young coconut, mangosteen, etc.

"The resumption of this route will further broaden Changsha Airport's 'Belt and Road' air logistics channel and enhance logistics distribution capabilities." Staff of Hunan Airport Logistics Co., Ltd. introduced that this route will not only help local cross-border e-commerce products reach the Southeast Asian market, but also bring fresh fruits and aquatic products from Southeast Asia to Changsha consumers.

At present, Changsha Airport operates four "Belt and Road" cargo routes stably, with 13 round-trip flights per week, which has enabled more "buy globally, sell globally" scenarios to be implemented.

"The number of domestic and international cargo flights has shown a significant growth trend." A relevant person in charge of Hunan Airport Logistics Co., Ltd. introduced that from January to July this year, the company's cargo and mail throughput at Changsha Airport was 95,658 tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.4%, of which the international cargo and mail throughput was 38,861 tons, a year-on-year increase of 24.5%.

Logistics is both a booster and a barometer of the economy. Changsha's land, sea and air logistics channels are all working together to ensure smooth flow of goods.
