on september 9, hong kong first ferry's 400-passenger pure battery-powered passenger ferry "new pearl 39" was launched in nansha, guangzhou.this ship is currently the first passenger ferry in hong kong that is entirely built with domestically produced carbon fiber materials, breaking the technical monopoly of high-end imported carbon fiber materials in domestically produced passenger ships.
zong weiqi, deputy general manager of guangzhou shipbuilding industry co., ltd. of china shipbuilding group, said that carbon fiber composite materials are an ideal material in the shipbuilding field, with the characteristics of light weight, corrosion resistance and low noise. compared with traditional marine materials, they can further save fuel and reduce maintenance costs, and have obvious advantages in energy conservation, emission reduction, and low-carbon environmental protection.
the r&d team focused on the localization of carbon fiber composite materials, and achieved a major breakthrough in independent production in the shipbuilding field through carbon fiber high-performance weaving technology, carbon fiber interface performance strengthening technology, high-strength impact-resistant vinyl resin development technology, carbon fiber composite comprehensive performance evaluation, carbon fiber composite molding process, typical cabin construction and assessment, etc.
the results of the study showed thatafter the self-developed domestic carbon fiber is matched with the resin, the performance is comparable to that of imported materials, and the structural weight is reduced by more than 20% compared to aluminum boats.it meets the ship design index and construction process requirements. among them, the infusion type vinyl resin is better than the imported equivalent material.
thanks to the carbon fiber structure, the ship has a light hull, low energy consumption and long cruising range, which can meet the requirements of charging at night and continuous operation during the day. it is reported that this passenger ferry will serve hong kong victoria harbour.
