on the same day, the sub-center hub welcomed the key double nodes of the main structure capping and the installation of the first "beijing sail" roof. this "super project" organized and constructed by beijing's state-owned enterprise beijing investment group and jointly undertaken by several state-owned enterprises is one step closer to achieving the goal of basically completing the main structure by the end of 2024.

the sub-center station hub is located in block 0101 of beijing's sub-center, close to beijing's administrative office area, covering an area of 61 hectares, with an underground building area of about 1.28 million square meters and a reserved ground building area of about 1.39 million square meters. it is a super urban complex built in accordance with the tod model, showing the distinctive characteristics of "underground hub and above-ground city". after the completion of the sub-center station hub, beijing's sub-center will be able to reach the capital airport in 15 minutes, daxing airport and tangshan, hebei in 35 minutes, and xiong'an new area and tianjin binhai new area in 1 hour.
as of late august 2024, the main structure of the sub-center station hub project has been topped off, 6 pieces of jingfan roof steel structures stand on the ground, 50% of the mechanical and electrical equipment has been installed, and 40% of the decoration has been completed.

on august 20, with the completion of the pouring of the last truck of concrete in area 01c of section 01 of the sub-center station hub project, the main structure of the main station building area of the sub-center station hub project was capped off; on august 30, the pouring of the last truck of concrete in project 03a of section 03 of the project construction was also successfully completed, marking the completion of the capping off of the main structure of the sub-center station hub.

the first "jingfan" roof was completed
on august 30, the first "beijing sail" roof of the sub-center hub project was installed and constructed. the steel structure of this "beijing sail" roof is 77 meters long, 68 meters wide, 14 meters to 27.5 meters high, weighing about 1,500 tons, with about 4,208 honeycomb aluminum panels for the sail surface curtain wall, and about 10,000 square meters of single-layer tensile membrane and air pillow membrane for the lighting bubble layer.
the construction of the "beijing sail" roof began on september 15, 2023. in order to build high-quality and fine projects, the builders overcame various difficulties such as the fitting accuracy adjustment of the bubble surface curve beam, the unloading, tensioning and spring configuration of the sail surface layer, and overcame various problems such as construction site restrictions and abnormal weather. beijing investment group organized all parties involved in the construction to innovate and improve, and repeatedly conducted 3d scanning and modeling, repeated calculations, and experimental comparisons to work out satisfactory and feasible design and construction plans, and formulated standard construction methods and operating procedures for promotion; it took 11 months, with a total of about 4,000 man-times and about 800 shifts of mechanical equipment, to build the first "beijing sail" into a model classic, beautifully displayed, and accumulated valuable experience to effectively promote the safe, efficient and high-quality construction of the subsequent 6 large and 3 small "beijing sail" roofs, and accelerate the high-quality construction of the sub-center station hub.
it is understood that the design inspiration of the "beijing sail" roof comes from the sailing ships on the grand canal, showing an architectural form with the implication of "setting sail and thousands of sails competing". it adopts a "double-layer co-construction" structural design, with the upper layer being the "sail surface" of "steel structure + etfe tensile membrane + curtain wall honeycomb aluminum panel", and the lower layer being the "lighting bubble" of "steel structure + etfe air pillow membrane". this design not only enhances the thermal insulation of the roof, but also effectively improves the stability and durability of the roof. the "beijing sail" roof also incorporates a variety of green energy-saving construction technologies, such as perforated sunshade design, efficient thermal insulation materials and insulation technology, which can reduce heat load by 5.2 million kwh per year, equivalent to the summer cooling capacity of 3,200 household air conditioners; it can also reduce lighting electricity consumption by about 486,000 kwh per year.
