on august 27, in order to focus on the training of female workers in dunhuang, the china women's development foundation, the dunhuang academy, the china dunhuang grottoes conservation and research foundation, and the guoqiang public welfare foundation launched the "fan jinshi dunhuang outstanding female workers training program."

a sixty-year watch

dunhuang, the throat of the silk road and the intersection of civilizations, has been built over 1,000 years in 10 dynasties from the 4th to the 14th century ad, preserving the grand scale of the mogao grottoes, which now has 735 caves, more than 2,000 colored sculptures, and 45,000 square meters of murals.

as the honorary president of the dunhuang academy and the recipient of the national honorary title of "outstanding contributor to cultural relics protection", "daughter of dunhuang" fan jinshi has guarded the mogao grottoes for more than 60 years, walked through every cave in the mogao grottoes, looked at every mural and every colored sculpture, and watched the vicissitudes of history and the diversity of culture in the mogao grottoes. she regards the protection, research, promotion and management of dunhuang's cultural heritage as a lifelong career, and has exchanged her gray hair for the "eternal appearance" of dunhuang.

on august 27, 86-year-old fan jinshi appeared at the launching ceremony of the "fan jinshi dunhuang women outstanding worker training program". "i am an ordinary cultural relic worker. the needs of the country are my aspirations."

a group of female power

there are many female images in the dunhuang murals. these pictures that preserve the elegance of women exude the mysterious, gentle and prosperous vitality of thousands of years ago. thousands of years later, generation after generation of outstanding women like ms. fan have taken root in the desert with enthusiasm, just to protect the beauty of dunhuang.

su buming, director of the dunhuang research institute, introduced that the institute has continuously carried out various forms of exchanges and cooperation with more than 30 institutions in more than 10 countries and regions including the united states, japan, britain, france, and more than 40 domestic research institutes and colleges and universities, exploring the scientific protection of cultural heritage from all aspects and cultivating a large number of professional and technical personnel and management talents in the digital protection of grottoes, murals, earthen sites and cultural relics.
