Guangzhou, August 27 (China News Service) (Guo Jun, Peng Yonggui) The first 16,000TEU dual-fuel container ship built by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Group recently completed the installation of the B-type LNG fuel tank in Guangzhou. The B-type LNG fuel tank has a capacity of 13,000 cubic meters and weighs 1,200 tons. It is currently the largest B-type LNG fuel tank used in domestic ships.

It is reported that at present, the mainstream LNG tanks in the market are membrane tanks and independent tanks, among which independent tanks are divided into Type A, Type B, and Type C. There are two main types of Type B tanks used in the shipping market, one is a spherical fuel tank, referred to as "MOSS tank", and the other is a prismatic fuel tank, referred to as "SPB tank". The SPB tank integrates the advantages of membrane tanks and MOSS tanks. Its prismatic structure ensures high volume utilization and low air draft. At the same time, it has transverse baffles and mid-longitudinal bulkheads inside, which can effectively reduce liquid sloshing even under partial loading conditions. The LNG fuel tank hoisted by Guangzhou Shipyard International this time is a Type B SPB tank.

Since the B-type cabin is oversized and overweight, and the hoisting precision requirements are high, how to complete the hoisting efficiently, safely and accurately is a challenge faced by all participating departments. The Guangzhou Shipyard International 16000TEU container ship project team took the lead in organizing multiple rounds of special meetings for review, and hired external experts to conduct comprehensive process technology demonstration and safety review of the B-type cabin, analyze the technical and safety issues in the entire hoisting process one by one, and organize relevant departments to conduct hoisting and installation process briefing training, laying a solid foundation for the successful hoisting of the country's largest B-type cabin.
