The State Council and the Central Military Commission recently announced the newly revised "Regulations on Military Personnel Pensions and Benefits" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations"), which will come into effect on October 1, 2024.

The newly revised "Regulations" are aimed at guaranteeing the state's pensions and preferential treatment for soldiers, encouraging soldiers to devote themselves to defending and building the motherland, strengthening national defense and military modernization, and making soldiers a profession respected by the whole society. Clarify the central and local fiscal responsibilities. Improve the military-local connection mechanism for the assessment of martyrs and the issuance of disability pensions. Third, increase pension and preferential treatment measures and increase service and guarantee efforts. It is stipulated that pension and preferential treatment recipients enjoy social security, basic public services and corresponding pension and preferential treatment.
