The Chinese Valentine's Day on August 10 happens to fall on the weekend. As the "Chinese Valentine's Day", the "romantic economy" in the Chinese Valentine's Day market is strong this year.
On August 12, a reporter from Chao News learned from Meituan Pao Errands that during this year's Chinese Valentine's Day, the number of orders related to Chinese Valentine's Day gifts increased by 33% year-on-year, and instant delivery services such as errands welcomed a peak in orders, mainly flower and gift delivery orders. In addition, the demand for personalized and customized services such as helping to buy gifts in stores, queuing at popular restaurants, and redeeming group purchase coupons has also increased significantly.
Every year on the Chinese Valentine's Day, it is the peak period for flower orders. However, due to staff shortages and other reasons, some flower shops are prone to problems such as insufficient capacity and untimely response when orders surge.
It is understood that during the Chinese Valentine's Day, Meituan Running Errands not only provided merchants with stable transportation support, but also provided full-process support from merchant stocking to delivery by arranging riders to be stationed in stores and part-time staff to help in stores, fully ensuring the quality delivery of Chinese Valentine's Day flower orders.
Meituan arranges riders to stay in stores
In order to provide users and merchants with a better delivery experience, Meituan Pao Er also provides professional flower delivery training for riders to make flower delivery standardized and professional. For example, before delivery, the rider will confirm the size of the bouquet with the merchant in advance to leave enough space for the delivery box; during delivery, pay attention to scientific placement to prevent the bouquet from being squeezed and deformed. Meituan Pao Er also provides a 2-hour quick compensation service for flower merchants. If the bouquet is damaged due to delivery reasons, the compensation can be completed within 2 hours.
At the same time, the errand-running instant delivery business is becoming a new solution for private-domain logistics. The reporter visited several flower merchants and learned that most flower and gift merchants have 1-2 managers, a customer unit price of 50-200 yuan, and an operating model that radiates 5-8 kilometers around. In recent years, such small and micro businesses have acquired customers through multiple channels online and offline, and then completed the fulfillment and delivery by the same-city errand service to meet customers' needs for "instant delivery". They have obtained a fixed customer base with high-quality services for private-domain operations, greatly expanding the service and profitability of a single store.

Ke Xin, the owner of a private dessert shop, told reporters: "My customers are all regular customers. Every day, the products are made according to demand. This Chinese Valentine's Day, the orders are even more overwhelming." When asked about the delivery method, Ke Xin said: "In the past, there were not many customers, so I drove to deliver them myself, but now there are more and more repeat customers. I will use a one-to-one errand service to deliver to customers. Generally, it can be delivered within 30-40 minutes, and the customers are very satisfied."
Not only flower and cake shops choose to use errand running to complete delivery services, many offline clothing brand stores, digital stores, and printing shops also choose to use errand running to ship goods to customers to improve delivery efficiency.
The reporter randomly visited several shopping malls and found that delivery boys appeared from time to time in a high-end brand store. The clerk told us that many brands now allow customers to add corporate WeChat accounts when they enter the store. Customers can directly ship goods from the store when they need them. If they place an errand order, they can receive it quickly. If they place an order online, they have to wait at least one or two days.
As consumer demand becomes more diversified and personalized, instant delivery services such as errand running are constantly expanding new application scenarios and service types while also meeting consumer needs with more professional and standardized service processes.
