Since the release of BYD's fifth-generation DM technology in May, it has attracted widespread discussion and attention in the automotive market. On July 27, BYD held a fifth-generation DM technology analysis meeting in Chongqing, where senior engineers from the Automotive New Technology Research Institute comprehensively analyzed the technical innovations of the fifth-generation DM. At a time when new energy vehicles have become mainstream, the release of BYD's fifth-generation DM technology will further accelerate the process of oil-to-electricity conversion in the automotive market.
Fifth Generation DM Technology Analysis Conference-Chongqing Station
The fifth-generation DM achieves a mass-produced engine thermal efficiency of 46.06%, a fuel consumption of 2.9L per 100 kilometers (NEDC) and a comprehensive range of 2,100 kilometers (NEDC), once again rewriting the history of global automobile fuel consumption, ushering in the era of fuel consumption 2, and once again refreshing the ceiling of plug-in hybrid technology with the advantages of "fast, economical, quiet, smooth and green".
How is such impressive data achieved? This is due to the strong technical foundation provided by the electric-based power architecture, full-temperature vehicle thermal management architecture, and intelligent electric fusion electronic and electrical architecture.
First of all, the fifth-generation DM technology still uses an electric-based power architecture. The plug-in hybrid dedicated high-efficiency engine has achieved the world's highest mass-produced thermal efficiency of 46.06%. The EHS electric hybrid system has increased its power density by 70.28% through the ultimate structural design, and has greatly reduced the loss of energy flow paths, with a comprehensive working efficiency of 92%. The blade battery dedicated to plug-in hybrid has an energy density increase of 15.9%, ensuring that the "heart" is fully "supplied with blood". The comprehensive evolution of the three core components has shaped a strong backbone for the fifth-generation DM technology.
Secondly, the fifth-generation thermal management architecture has risen to the same level of importance as the power architecture, from the original independent systems to the height of the overall architecture. It consists of front cabin thermal management, battery thermal management, and cabin thermal management, working together to ensure the lowest energy consumption. This architecture allows the vehicle to save up to 10% of energy consumption in high temperature environments and up to 8% in low temperature environments, ensuring a dual experience of energy saving and comfort.
In terms of intelligent electric fusion electronic and electrical architecture, the fifth-generation DM technology integrates the industry's first plug-in hybrid power domain control seven-in-one, realizing functional reuse and increasing power density by 18.3%. The industry's first chip integration realizes the integration of VCU (voltage control unit) and dual MCU (motor control unit), and the chip computing power is increased by 146%, fully improving the integration and performance of the entire vehicle.
The fifth-generation DM technology was put into mass production as soon as it was released, and it was well recognized by the market. According to the data of the China Passenger Car Association in June, the terminal sales of the first models of the fifth-generation DM technology, Qin L DM-i and Haibao 06 DM-i, were 20,100 and 14,000 respectively in June. In addition, the fifth-generation DM technology will also be installed in the upcoming Song L DM-i, Song PLUS DM-i and more BYD product series. BYD's new generation of plug-in hybrid technology is once again leading the development of the global plug-in hybrid market with great advantages.
The analysis meeting also held a test of Qin L DM-i and Haibao 06 DM-i's 100km fuel consumption. The test was carried out as usual for daily commuting, with 70% of the vehicles on urban expressways and 30% on urban roads. The air conditioner was automatically turned on at 24°C during the whole journey, and the SOC condition for power shortage was not less than 15%. In the end, the fuel consumption test results of Chongqing Station were all less than 2.8L, which once again confirmed the true strength of the fifth-generation DM technology. From the dimensions of fuel saving, technology, design, space, driving, intelligence, and safety, it leads the industry and creates an era of fuel consumption of 2! (Information)
