China.com, August 6th: "The track gauge of the track gauge equipment is 0.68mm, the horizontal is 0.52mm, and the error with the site is 0.13mm..." At noon on August 5th, at K746+550 kilometers on the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, Ren Hui, a worker of the Bozhou Inspection Section of the Fuyang Engineering Department of the Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. of China Railway, was carefully checking the data of the track gauge. According to the work plan, Ren Hui and his colleagues had to complete the 10-kilometer line inspection task within the skylight point that day. After checking the data and setting up the instrument, he began to check the equipment.

At noon, the sun was blazing. The rails, sleepers, and ballast on the railway were scorching hot. Being on the railway was like being in a furnace. Ren Hui was operating the track gauge and walking in the center of the track. In less than ten minutes, his orange work clothes were soaked, as if he had just been fished out of the water. "Drip... drip..." The track gauge sounded an alarm. Ren Hui stopped and took a closer look. The computer screen showed a horizontal level of 4.85 mm. He picked up the track ruler and conducted an on-site recheck of the alarm location. "The track gauge's maximum horizontal alarm is 4.85 mm, and the track ruler verified the level to be 4.87 mm." While reporting the recheck results, Ren Hui notified the person in charge of the operation to mark out the workload of the disease on site and keep records.

The sun was scorching, and there was no wind on the railway. From a distance, the railway tracks were scorching. The temperature in Bozhou was 35 degrees Celsius that day, and the rail temperature reached 52.4 degrees Celsius. Ren Hui pushed the track inspection instrument under the scorching sun to check the 2-kilometer line equipment. Along the way, he blinked from time to time and squeezed out the sweat that slid down his forehead to his eyelids. "Why is it so hot today? The railway is like a steamer. Li Sijin packed some Rendan for me. I have to take some, otherwise I really can't stand it." After reviewing the gauge of a warning, Ren Hui did not rush to leave. He picked up the kettle and "gulped" a few mouthfuls of water, and then asked the on-site protection officer Li Sijin for anti-heat and cooling medicine. After pouring out a dozen Rendan pills, Ren Hui continued to check the equipment with them in his mouth. On the railway that was "heated" above and "steamed" below, Ren Hui's face was flushed and sweat slid from his face to his chin, gathering into a "stream" and flowing to the top of the rails, with a "hissing" sound of white smoke rising.
The skylight was about to end. Ren Hui and his colleagues completed the line equipment inspection task and evacuated the passage with tools. He walked into the culvert, took a few sips from the kettle, took off his wet work clothes, sat on the ground in a hurry, and gasped for breath...
