joint statement between the people's republic of china and the republic of zimbabwe on deepening and enhancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a high-level china-zimbabwe community with a shared future

at the invitation of xi jinping, president of the people's republic of china, emmerson mnangagwa, president of the republic of zimbabwe, will pay a state visit to the people's republic of china from august 29 to september 6, 2024.

during the visit, the two heads of state held talks in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, exchanged in-depth views on china-zimbabwe, china-africa relations and international and regional issues of common concern, reached broad and important consensus, and pointed out the way forward for the development of bilateral relations.

china and zimbabwe (hereinafter referred to as "the two sides") agree that china and zimbabwe are good friends, good brothers and good partners, and have forged a deep friendship in the struggle for national independence and national liberation. since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1980, china and zimbabwe have always been in the same boat, sharing weal and woe. since the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, bilateral relations have maintained a high level of operation, traditional friendship has been continuously deepened, political mutual trust has been continuously consolidated, each other's core interests have been firmly defended, practical cooperation has achieved fruitful results, and close coordination and cooperation in international affairs have become a benchmark for china-africa friendship and a model of south-south cooperation. the smooth implementation of the new parliament building and national drug warehouse project assisted by china, the expansion of the wanji thermal power station, the renovation and expansion of mugabe international airport, and the third phase of the net one national mobile broadband project, which are supported by china, has become a vivid portrayal of the practical cooperation between the two countries.
