Since the beginning of this year, Passat has won the monthly sales champion for 6 times and continues to lead the market segment. Thanks to this, its cumulative sales in the first 7 months of this year have reached 126,259 units, becoming the only model in the market segment to exceed 100,000 units. Magotan, also one of the "German duo", has slowed down, but still has a sales advantage of over 10,000 units, surpassing the Japanese models.
The market structure of high-end joint venture B-class cars remains stable. Judging from the cumulative sales in the first seven months of this year, Mercedes-Benz C-class still maintains its lead, just one step away from 100,000 units. BMW 3 Series also has a good market performance, with cumulative sales this year basically the same as last year. In the terminal market, BBA has recovered some discounts, ranging from 3,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan. Among them, the BMW 3 Series is the most obvious, with the terminal discount price adjusted back to about 20,000 yuan.
According to data released by the China Passenger Car Association, in July, sales of joint venture brand cars were 654,292 units, a year-on-year decrease of 21.09% and a month-on-month decrease of 10.15%, and the market share fell to 37.93%.
Against the backdrop of the overall decline of joint venture brands, sales of mainstream and high-end brands of joint venture B-class cars also showed a year-on-year "double decline".
In July, sales of 13 mainstream brand models fell 14% year-on-year, and the cumulative sales in the first seven months of this year fell 12% year-on-year. Sales of 7 high-end brand models fell 21%, and the cumulative sales from January to July fell 8% year-on-year.
For reference, B-class car sales in July were 250,000 units, up 6% year-on-year. In the first seven months of this year, cumulative sales reached 1.69 million units, up 11% year-on-year.
Focusing on mainstream joint venture brand models, Passat "left the others behind" and won the monthly sales champion with 18,784 units sold. Since the beginning of this year, Passat has won the monthly sales champion 6 times, continuing to lead the market segment. Thanks to this, Passat's cumulative sales in the first seven months of this year have reached 126,259 units, becoming the only model in the market segment to exceed 100,000 units, which is already on par with Camry in the same period last year. Data shows that Camry's cumulative sales in the same period last year were 127,575 units.
Compared with Passat's "rapid progress", Magotan, also one of the "German duo", has slowed down. Magotan's sales in July were 11,502 units, which was less than Camry's 14,068 units and Accord's 13,307 units. However, in terms of cumulative sales, Magotan still outperformed Japanese cars by more than 10,000 units, with cumulative sales from January to July reaching 92,414 units. Based on this, it is highly likely that "Magotan" and "Pa" will work together to rewrite the joint venture B-class car market this year.
As for Japanese models, the Camry, which has been the top seller of B-class cars for many years, has lost its former glory, with a total sales of only 76,025 units this year, a year-on-year decrease of 40%. Not only is it powerless against the popular Maybach, but it also lags behind its "old rival" Accord by 2,000 units.
In fact, the revamped Accord and Camry have failed to achieve the expected sales surge. In addition to "trading price for volume", the former evergreens may need more solutions.
In addition, from January to July, the cumulative sales of Teana was 39,806 units, a year-on-year decrease of 5%; the sales of Asia Dragon was 33,604 units, a year-on-year decrease of 36%; the sales of Insignia was 23,914 units, a decrease of 12%.
Mondeo became the only bright spot among American models. Although its monthly sales showed a year-on-year decline, its cumulative sales this year reached 39,964 units, a year-on-year increase of 5%. The "two Juns and one Bao" (Regal, LaCrosse, and Malibu) all showed a "double decline" in monthly and cumulative sales year-on-year.
The Korean model Kia K5 showed positive growth due to the low base in the same period, with sales of 1,157 units in July and cumulative sales of 4,122 units from January to July.
The market structure of high-end joint venture B-class cars remains stable, with "BBA" occupying the leading position, among which "3C" has monthly sales exceeding 10,000.
Specifically, Mercedes-Benz C-Class won the monthly sales championship with 14,155 units sold, and BMW 3 Series ranked second with sales of 12,094 units.
From the cumulative sales of the first seven months of this year, Mercedes-Benz C-Class maintained its lead with 95,866 units, just one step away from 100,000 units. Although the electric model BMW i3 diverted some sales, the BMW 3 Series still had a good terminal performance, with cumulative sales of 86,540 units in the first seven months of this year, basically the same as the same period last year.
In contrast, Audi A4L has the largest sales decline, with cumulative sales of 64,369 units in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year decline of 16%. It is worth mentioning that the reporter learned during a recent visit that the three BBAs have recovered some discounts at the terminal, ranging from 3,000 yuan to 20,000 yuan. Among them, the BMW 3 Series is the most obvious, with the terminal discount price adjusted back to about 20,000 yuan.
It is hard to find bright spots among second-tier high-end brands. In July, Volvo sold 1,544 units, down 13% year-on-year; Lincoln Z sold 1,051 units, down 11%; Jaguar XEL sold 768 units, up 33%. Judging from the data from the first seven months of this year, the cumulative sales of Cadillac CT5 were 28,558 units, down 36% year-on-year, with the most obvious decline. According to the reporter's visit, the current terminal discount of Cadillac CT5 is around 90,000 yuan. In addition, the cumulative sales of Volvo S60 in the first seven months of this year just exceeded 10,000 units, down 15% year-on-year, and Lincoln Z is less than 10,000 units, down 18% year-on-year.
