Wang Jidong has been working in the coal preparation industry for 33 years, starting in 1991 when he joined the former No. 4 Coal Preparation Plant and moving to the Kaiyuan Coal Preparation Plant in 2003. From "Little Wang" to "Old Wang", from a post worker to a maintenance worker, a team leader, a foreman, and now the leader of the raw coal team of the Kaiyuan Coal Preparation Plant, "becoming the best" is Wang Jidong's requirement for himself.
"Be strong, never give up, and go forward the harder the task!" This is how leaders and co-workers evaluate Wang Jidong. It is this "stubborn" spirit and tenacity that has honed his indomitable character and made him a leader among team-level production cadres. As a worker, he was an advanced individual of Kaiyuan Company; as a team leader, he was rated as an excellent team leader at the group level for two consecutive years; as a team leader, the team he led was a pioneer worker at the group level; as a party member, he was repeatedly rated as an excellent Communist Party member of the group company.
Doing a good job depends on hard work
Opening Wang Jidong’s WeChat Sports app, except for rest days, he basically takes about 20,000 steps every day.
"There is no shortcut to doing a good job, it depends on hard work. I get up at 5 o'clock every morning. Whether I have my own shift or not, I will go around the workshop to check the key links and the main equipment. I will attend the morning meeting only when there are no problems, so that I can feel at ease!" Wang Jidong's "work experience" is very simple.25 belts, 6 screens, 2 scrapers, 6 coal feeders... When it comes to the equipment of the raw coal team, Wang Jiduong knows them all.
The coal team is responsible for a large area, many positions and scattered equipment. It takes more than three hours to go through the entire line. Many problems are discovered by Wang Jidong by running around. In late April last year, when Wang Jidong was patrolling in front of the No. 151 scraper, the equipment had a stuck chain and a jumped chain. After handling it, he learned that the scraper frequently malfunctioned, so he stayed on the scene to think of a solution.
Considering that this scraper was only 15 meters long, he proposed the idea of ​​replacing the scraper with a belt. After obtaining the approval of his superiors, he led the party member assault team to work overtime to rush to make the head and tail pulley belt frames, and used the maintenance time to complete the scraper belt replacement project. After the modification, the failure never occurred again. Afterwards, this technology was applied to another 25-meter scraper, and the effect was also immediate.
The raw coal team is the first checkpoint for lifting raw coal underground. Whether it runs smoothly or not is related to underground production efficiency. Whenever entering the workshop, no problem can escape Wang Jidong's "eagle eyes". The No. 117 belt of the raw coal system is a disc-wheel flap, which needs to change the direction of the coal flow through the flap. When production is tight, this process is inefficient and affects production. After Wang Jidong discovered it, he organized personnel to change the disc-wheel flap to a lotus leaf flap, which not only improved production efficiency but also reduced the labor intensity of employees.
Managing team affairs well depends on intention
From growing from a jobber to becoming the "leader" of the raw coal team, Wang Jidong's years of experience in on-site safety management have made him understand one thing: whether it is managing people or equipment, as long as you are willing and attentive, there is no problem that cannot be solved.
The raw coal team's equipment accounts for one-third of the entire plant. Most of the equipment is "old and weak", and the maintenance personnel have a very heavy workload. Wang Jidong has refined the management, divided the responsibility areas according to shifts, and rotated them every six months. At the same time, based on the ability of the team leaders, he designated exclusive important equipment, so that everyone in the team has a direction and a goal, and can work busy but in an orderly manner.
To facilitate management, at the end of 2021, Wang Jidong established WeChat work groups according to categories, and asked employees to post the faults and hidden dangers they found to the work group. Small problems were solved by the team on their own, and major problems were forwarded to the team-level group or the party member group of the raw coal team, and the team leader and party members took the lead in brainstorming to solve them.
Once, a maintenance worker complained in the raw coal team work group: It was too difficult to add oil to the No. 201 hanging pile. Wang Jidong was concerned after seeing this and ran to the hanging pile site alone to check the situation. It turned out that the hanging pile site was narrow and the equipment belt rack was not designed reasonably, which brought difficulties to the subsequent maintenance work. He couldn't sleep for several consecutive nights, and finally came up with a reform plan and immediately organized its implementation: combining the on-site space, expanding the belt rack and welding a fixing rod, which fundamentally solved the problem of difficult oiling of the hanging pile and easy deviation of the belt. This move made the maintenance worker smile.
In May this year, the underground geological conditions were not good, the coal was wet and the gangue was large. The worker No. 104 in the sorting workshop posted in the group: the design of the return coal grate was unreasonable, and one shift had to spend 6 hours to clean the gangue stuck on the return coal grate. Wang Jidong stayed at the scene without saying a word and pondered. The next day, he changed the round holes on the grate bars to long holes and raised the grate bar screen 45 degrees. After the transformation, the worker happily praised in the group: "No need to turn on the 'hand crank' anymore, production is much smoother!"
Patience is the key to a garden full of flowers
"Captain Wang has his own style of inspection. If he stays in front of a piece of equipment for more than three minutes, there must be something wrong with the equipment!" Speaking of Wang Jidong, the team leader of the fourth shift, Geng Zhiqiang, has a lot to say. "I am willing to hang out with the captain in the workshop, mainly because I can learn a lot. Once when I was inspecting the workshop with the captain, he stopped in front of a reducer, touched it with his hands and listened with his ears for a long time, and said that the shaft was loose. After disassembling it, it turned out to be the case. I admire him very much!"
Because he started out as a team leader, Wang Jidong is more aware of the benefits of practical experience for young people. Whenever he inspects the workshop, he will find a team leader or maintenance worker to pass on his years of experience to the young people. Asking questions, answering questions, discussing innovations, and inspecting with Wang Jidong are all about learning. Under Wang Jidong's guidance, young team leaders such as Geng Zhiqiang, Zhang Xiaoke, and Li Xianbao have improved their thinking and abilities.
Geng Zhiqiang was particularly good at understanding production problems. Under his leadership, the fourth shift became the "ace team" of the raw coal team. But Wang Jidong was not satisfied. He said, "A single flower does not make spring. A hundred flowers in full bloom make spring. I hope that each team has three or two core forces, so that they can shoulder the responsibility of the raw coal team." Therefore, he promoted the working method of "workers lead the team, the team leads the best, and the party members lead the masses" in the team, requiring every foreman, team leader, and party member to play a role.
On July 1 this year, Wang Jidong was once again named an outstanding Communist Party member of Huayang Group. This is not only a recognition of his decades of dedication, but also a trust from top to bottom. "Every time I solve a production problem, I feel very relieved to see that the workers can produce easily and hear that there is no notice that affects underground production. I must do my job well, practice my original intention with actions, and live up to the red on my chest!" Wang Jidong said.
