Recently, the application for the selection and cultivation of outstanding engineers in Beijing in 2024 was launched, and applicants should complete the submission of materials before August 28. The city's selection and cultivation of outstanding engineers is conducted once a year, and is divided into two categories: the Outstanding Engineer Growth Program and the Outstanding Young Engineer Training Program. This year's selection is centered around Beijing's "2441" high-tech industry system, and is aimed at the fields of new generation information technology, medicine and health, integrated circuits, intelligent networked vehicles, intelligent manufacturing and equipment, green energy and energy conservation and environmental protection.
Among them, the Excellent Engineer Growth Plan supports 20 people, the applicants are no older than 45 years old, should be engaged in engineering and technical work in the production and construction front line for more than 8 years, have the title of senior engineer or above, or have made outstanding contributions in key technological breakthroughs and technological achievements transformation in their units and work fields. After being selected, each person will be given 70,000 yuan in training funds. The Excellent Young Engineer Training Program supports 100 people, the applicants are generally no older than 35 years old, and the age limit for female applicants can be relaxed to 37 years old. They have been engaged in engineering and technical work in the production and construction front line for more than 3 years, have the title of engineer or above, or have made certain contributions in technological breakthroughs and technological achievements transformation in their units and work fields. After being selected, each person will be given 30,000 yuan in training funds.
The Municipal Science and Technology Association stated that this selection is not paper-oriented, and focuses on evaluating the role and contribution of the applicant in the main or participating project, as well as the practicality and transformation prospects of the project. The applicant's unit should also play a role in talent training, have a relatively complete internal talent training system, formulate and implement talent growth and training programs, and have the working conditions and foundation required for scientific and technological innovation activities such as research and development, achievement transformation and industrialization, and scientific and technological services.
Cultivating an engineer with high level, outstanding technical innovation ability and good at solving complex engineering problems requires the cooperation of all parties. As early as 1989, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology launched the selection and commendation of Beijing's outstanding young engineers. Since 2018, it has established the "Beijing Outstanding Young Engineers Innovation Studio" project to support Beijing Outstanding Young Engineers winners and their teams to carry out scientific and technological innovation and research and development, and promote the growth of outstanding young engineers.

After being selected into the Outstanding Engineer Growth Program, he can not only obtain funding, but also receive corresponding support from within the company, which can greatly promote the subsequent development of the team.
Next, the city will continue to implement the Excellent Engineer Growth Plan. The Municipal Science and Technology Association stated that it is necessary to establish a general ability evaluation standard for the engineering group with the knowledge value and practical application as the orientation, carry out the stratified selection and training of outstanding engineering talents, and build a young engineer talent support service system that combines a tiered training system, talent innovation evaluation, and a publicity and display platform.
