According to Xinhua News Agency, after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan on the 8th, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a warning message, warning that the possibility of a major earthquake in the Nankai Trough in the Pacific Ocean east of Japan has increased, and called on the public to be vigilant and prepared in the next week or so. Japan's issuance of a major earthquake warning may affect the itinerary of Chinese tourists to Japan. Have the airlines introduced corresponding refund and change policies? On August 13, Jimu News reporters asked several airlines in detail about this.

According to the customer service staff of Air China, the airline has introduced a corresponding refund and change policy, but there are certain restrictions. Passengers whose ticket issuance date is before 16:00 on August 9, whose travel date is between August 8 and August 25, and who apply for a refund after 17:00 on August 8 can get a full refund.
China Eastern Airlines' refund and change policy for tickets to Japan also has restrictions. Customer service staff said that for the rules to apply, the passenger ticket must contain at least one unused section that involves arriving or departing from Fukuoka, Nagasaki or Kagoshima, or a flight that stops in these three places; tickets with an arrival and departure deadline between August 8, 2024 and August 25, 2024 and unused tickets for the same section can apply for a flight refund or flight rescheduling. If the passenger's itinerary meets the above conditions, they will need to cancel their seat after August 8 and before the flight takes off.
Jimu News reporter called China Southern Airlines customer service and learned that the airline has issued a corresponding refund and change policy, but it is only for internal reference. Passengers must provide relevant booking information, and customer service staff can determine whether the passenger's ticket meets the refund and change policy and assist in refunding. Passengers who have booked tickets to Japan are advised to call the customer service hotline for further inquiries.
Jimu News reporter learned from Spring Airlines and Juneyao Airlines that the airlines have not yet issued relevant policies on refunds and changes for Japan routes, and passengers' tickets to Japan will still be processed according to the previous refund and change policies. Passengers are advised to continue to pay attention to official information, and it is not ruled out that corresponding policies will be issued in the future.
If passengers have any related questions, they can further inquire with the relevant airlines. The hotlines are as follows: International Airlines 95583; China Eastern Airlines 95530; China Southern Airlines 95539; Hainan Airlines 95339; Xiamen Airlines 95557; Sichuan Airlines 95378; Shenzhen Airlines 95361; Shandong Airlines 95369; Spring Airlines 95524.
