Those Shanghai characteristic streets that once accompanied us as we grew up but are now gradually fading away.

As a native Shanghainese, I have deep feelings for this city. But in recent years, with the development and so-called "renovation" of the city, some landmarks and characteristic streets in our memory have gradually disappeared, which makes me feel extremely sad and regretful.

In the past, walking on Sichuan North Road, it was very lively and full of fireworks, and it was a symbol of Shanghai's prosperity. The noise of Fangbang Middle Road, the book fragrance of Fuzhou Road, the food of Yunnan Road, the snacks of Wujiang Road, the fashion of Xiangyang Road, and the elegance of Jinling Road are all memories of our youth. However, these places no longer exist, replaced by high-rise buildings and modern commercial areas. This change makes me wonder: Is this progress or a loss?

Some people say that the development of a city is inevitable, and the old must go before the new can come. But I think this is not just a replacement of the old and the new, but also a break in culture and memory. Each characteristic street carries the history and culture of Shanghai and is the emotional sustenance of Shanghai people. Their disappearance is like the pieces of a puzzle in our hearts being taken away, making our city incomplete.
