what new measures will daxing airport take to facilitate passengers' travel in the future? kong yue, deputy general manager of beijing daxing international airport, introduced that while daxing airport is building a "network in the sky", it is also actively laying out a "network on the ground". daxing airport has "upgraded" the "five vertical and two horizontal" transportation network to a "six vertical and three horizontal" transportation network, which efficiently reaches the urban areas of beijing, tianjin and hebei. for example, passengers departing from daxing airport can take the rail transit to beijing caoqiao station in 19 minutes at the fastest, beijing west station in 28 minutes, xiong'an in 19 minutes, and tianjin in 39 minutes. "although daxing airport is geographically far from the urban area, it has a well-developed transportation network and is smooth and free of traffic jams all the way." kong yue said.
kong yue introduced that the tianjin-xingxing intercity railway was put into operation on december 18, 2023, and transported a total of 420,000 passengers. daxing airport has also become a travel option for passengers from hebei and tianjin. according to relevant statistics, from may 2023 to may 2024, judging from the trends of passengers entering and leaving daxing airport, the number of passengers from langfang, baoding, tianjin, xiong'an, and zhuozhou totaled 6.03 million, accounting for 15.4%, of which langfang had the highest number, reaching 4.8 million, accounting for 12.2% of the passenger throughput.
next, daxing airport will accelerate the construction of satellite terminal and supporting projects. according to the current preliminary plan, the satellite terminal will have a construction area of 400,000 square meters and 65 aircraft stands, which will greatly increase the docking rate. after the satellite terminal is completed, it will increase the capacity to handle 27 million passenger throughput. by then, daxing airport will meet the demand for an annual passenger throughput of 72 million.
