according to zf, the mass-produced akc is zf's second-generation active rear-wheel steering technology, which has the advantages of compatibility and customizability.

the zhangjiagang base is the world's first launch site for zf's akc technology outside of europe. in the wave of electrification and intelligence, zf took the lead in localizing this technology in the chinese market to meet the growing needs of local customers. after less than two years of construction and production preparation, zf officially started mass production this month.

it home learned that zf akc has been gradually applied to domestic new energy brand models such as saic zhiji and dongfeng mengshi 917. according to different vehicle usage scenarios and working conditions, zf akc provides corresponding rear wheel turning angles, and can achieve a maximum single-side turning angle output of +/-12°.

by the end of 2023, zf has sold 1.9 million akcs worldwide. the second-generation akc is said to have significantly improved mechanical performance, and has added a can communication electrical interface, further improving compatibility, and can be expanded to heavy-duty vehicles such as pickup trucks and heavy-duty full-size suvs.

zhang jie, general manager of zf zhangjiagang park and director of the braking and steering plant, said: "this mass production is the first localization project of zf akc, which will be installed on the models of the leading domestic new energy vehicle manufacturers. it is expected that in the next three to five years, the annual output of akc will be further increased, and the localization rate will reach more than 80% to meet the delivery and cost reduction needs of domestic customers."
