On August 22, at the regional exchange meeting of the 2024 China-ASEAN International Conference on Special Education, Deng Meng, Dean of the Institute of Inclusive Education of East China Normal University, shared with everyone the topic of "Reflections on the Training of Inclusive Education Teachers in China".

Dean Deng Meng elaborated on the differences and connections between Western inclusive education and Chinese inclusive education. He said that nowadays, the special education profession is changing, and traditional special education is gradually evolving into inclusive education. This also means that special education must move towards integration, and it is a general trend to promote the high-quality integrated development of special education.
So, how to cultivate high-quality inclusive education teachers? Deng Meng believes that the first is to cultivate key talents with a high degree of specialization, that is, teachers who specialize in special education; the second is to cultivate inclusive education professionals, that is, professionals engaged in inclusive education in ordinary schools; the third is to cultivate popular talents, so that all teachers can learn the basic knowledge of inclusive education.
Inclusive education is the highest form of educational modernization. Therefore, Deng Meng called for inclusive education teachers to enter ordinary schools, and ordinary school teachers should also have basic knowledge of inclusive education. He believed that in the future, more talents will join the inclusive education teaching team and work hard for the development of China's inclusive education.
