Recently, various automakers have released their sales figures for new energy vehicles in July. Among all the results, BYD once again won the sales championship with a monthly sales of 340,000 vehicles. In the list of new forces, Ideal Auto ranked first with a sales volume of 51,000 vehicles.
In addition, corporate brands including Geely Auto, Leapmotor and Changan Automobile have all achieved good year-on-year growth, with some brands achieving triple-digit growth.
Great Wall Motors and Aion's sales volume has slightly declined year-on-year, and they are in the transition period of product adjustment.
From January to July 2024, BYD's cumulative sales have reached 1.9554 million vehicles, of which the Dynasty and Ocean series have sales of 1.8518 million vehicles. As sub-brands, Denza and Fangchengbao have also achieved certain results.

After BYD, Geely Auto's new energy vehicle sales in July reached 59,000 units. It is worth mentioning that Geely's sub-brands Lynk & Co and Zeekr sold 21,300 and 15,700 units in July, up 24% and 30% year-on-year respectively. Zeekr is Geely's high-end pure electric brand, and another high-end brand Lynk & Co has also begun a large-scale new energy transformation.
In addition, Geely Auto's Geely Galaxy sales in July reached 16,700 units, up about 5% from the previous month and more than 66% from the previous year. From January to July this year, Geely Galaxy's cumulative sales reached 98,100 units, up 397% from the previous year. The Geometry series also achieved sales of 11,500 units in July. Overall, Geely has maintained its original basic market for fuel vehicles while maintaining strong momentum in the new energy market.
Among domestic brands, Changan Automobile performed well. The company's cumulative sales of new energy vehicles from its domestic brands from January to July reached 344,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 59.8%. GAC Group's pure electric brand GAC Aion has achieved cumulative sales of 212,600 units, ranking at the top of the list, but the overall sales have declined slightly, which may be affected by the iteration problems of new cars. Great Wall Motor's new energy sales also declined slightly year-on-year. The company's new energy sales in July were only 24,100 units, higher than the new power brand Leapmotor, but lower than Aion. Both companies will launch more new energy products in the second half of the year to participate in the competition in the new energy market.
In the sales ranking, Chinese auto brands present a situation of "one super and many strong". BYD has an absolute leading advantage, while Geely, Ideal and other brands are "in the middle", with no obvious strong and weak comparison. It is worth mentioning that BYD has completely cancelled fuel vehicles, but Geely, Changan, Great Wall and other brands still have many fuel vehicles on sale, so the sales of new energy vehicles are not the entire sales performance of major automakers.
Among the new forces, Ideal maintains its advantage, while Leapmotor surpasses NIO and Xpeng
Among the new forces, Ideal Auto achieved a monthly sales volume of 51,000 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of nearly 50%, and sales volume from January to July reached 240,000 vehicles, maintaining a leading edge among its competitors.

It is worth mentioning that the monthly sales of "Hongmeng Intelligent Driving" empowered by Huawei have continued to increase after cooperating with major car companies. The sales volume in July was 44,000 vehicles, and the cumulative sales volume from January to July was 238,300 vehicles.
NIO and Xpeng, both leading new car-making companies, were surpassed by Leapmotor, which came later. Leapmotor sold 22,100 vehicles in July, up 54.1% year-on-year, and 108,800 vehicles from January to July.
Compared with the strong competitiveness of new car manufacturers, the sales of "new forces" created by domestic brands are not outstanding. Geely's Zeekr achieved monthly sales of 15,600 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 30%, higher than Xiaopeng and Nezha.
After Zeekr, the three new forces brands, namely Arcfox under BAIC, Zhiji under SAIC, and Lantu under Dongfeng Motor, all had monthly sales of less than 10,000 vehicles, but they were growing rapidly and had much room for improvement.
