Xinhua News Agency, Nanjing, August 3 (Reporter He Leijing) Stamping, painting, assembly, 12,000 parts are then "transformed" into a new energy pickup truck, and more than 200 vehicle configurations are produced simultaneously... Walking into the SAIC Maxus "smart factory" in Huishan District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, you can feel the strong momentum of the "light of domestic products" new energy vehicles preparing to "go overseas".

The picture shows that at the Wuxi production base of SAIC Maxus, new cars are rolling off the production line after the final test. Xinhua News Agency "As of the end of last year, our cumulative overseas sales have exceeded 300,000 vehicles, of which sales in developed countries and regions account for more than 90%. More than 80% of the models exported to Europe are new energy vehicles. It can be said that we have become one of the representatives of high-quality Chinese cars overseas." said a relevant person in charge of SAIC Maxus.

Last June, the SAIC Maxus "Large Pure Electric Performance Pickup" project with an investment of 3 billion yuan was launched in Huishan District, Wuxi, and its products are exported to the global market. The four-seat design with double doors, seats that can rotate 180 degrees, and an estimated range of over 1,000 kilometers... In front of the production line of this pure electric pickup, computers, robots and unmanned conveyor belts work together in an orderly manner, and domestic high-end pickups are "non-stop" in the new energy era.

At Taicang Port in Suzhou, Jiangsu, nearly 10,000 domestically produced cars lined up to go out to sea on a 250,000 square meter car yard, creating a spectacular scene. According to the person in charge of the Automobile Project Department of Taicang International Container Terminal Co., Ltd., in the first quarter of this year, among all the cars exported from the terminal, new energy vehicles accounted for nearly 60%, an increase of more than 120% year-on-year.

As of the end of last year, my country's new energy vehicle industry has ranked first in global production and sales for nine consecutive years. In Jiangsu, a major manufacturing province, the export value of "new three" products including new energy vehicles reached 194.9 billion yuan in 2023, ranking first in the country, and the export scale of new energy vehicles increased by 3.6 times year-on-year.

The momentum of "going overseas" is due to the rapid development of all links in the industrial chain. One out of every 10 electric vehicles in the world uses batteries from Changzhou, Jiangsu. This small city, known as the "new energy capital", now has more than 3,000 new energy companies, and the completeness of the power battery industry chain has reached 97%, ranking first in the country.

According to Changzhou-based power battery manufacturer Zhongxinhang, the demand for domestic battery manufacturers from international customers, especially high-end European customers, is increasing. They not only require Chinese suppliers to provide products continuously, but also hope that companies can build supporting factories locally. In order to meet the needs of European customers, Zhongxinhang has started the battery factory project in Portugal, which is expected to be completed and put into production in 2026.

A complete industrial chain will help speed up vehicle production. Among the more than 100 spare parts suppliers of SAIC Maxus, there are more than 45 first-tier suppliers in Wuxi. In the production workshop of Faurecia Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. in Xinbei District, Changzhou, after each car seat is made, it is transported to BYD's smart vehicle factory just a few kilometers away. In January 2022, BYD began to launch new energy vehicles in Changzhou, driving the gradual formation of a complete new energy vehicle industry chain in the local area.

The picture shows welding robots working on the automatic welding robot conveyor belt at the SAIC Maxus Wuxi production base. Xinhua News Agency The driving force for the steady development of new energy vehicles is the constant pursuit of innovation. The "smart factory" of SAIC Maxus Wuxi Branch has greatly improved its intelligence level by investing a large number of advanced equipment and technologies, and its production capacity has increased from 50,000 units per year at the beginning of the factory to 200,000 units. At the Ideal Auto Changzhou production base, the production line has achieved 100% automation in multiple links such as welding and self-piercing riveting, and more than 3,000 parts can be intelligently delivered to the corresponding workstations, with significant results in product value-added and efficiency improvement.

"It is precisely because of the rapid technological iteration in my country's new energy vehicle field and the excellent quality of the products produced that it has been favored by more and more high-end overseas customers, and they are willing to continue to buy products made in China," said a relevant person in charge of China New Energy Aviation.
