Beijing News: According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on July 22, 2024, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with a delegation of the Board of Directors of the U.S.-China Business Council in Beijing.

Wang Yi welcomed the visit of American business people to China. Wang Yi pointed out that the US-China Business Council celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and President Xi Jinping sent a special congratulatory letter, fully affirming the work of the Council and encouraging the Council to build more bridges of friendly exchanges between China and the United States, weave more ties of pragmatic cooperation, and contribute to writing a new chapter of win-win cooperation between China and the United States in the next 50 years.

Wang Yi said that the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has just been successfully held. This is an important meeting of world attention and historic significance. You are the first American business delegation to visit after the plenary session. You can feel the new atmosphere of China's further comprehensive deepening of reform at the first time. It can be said that you have come at the right time. Looking at China's development process, China has made great strides to catch up with the times, relying on reform and opening up. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has successfully achieved the first centenary goal, relying on reform and opening up. Now, to create a new situation in China's modernization construction and strive for the second centenary goal, we still have to rely on reform and opening up. The "Decision" adopted by the plenary session has more than 20,000 words, covering all aspects of promoting China's modernization, and is a panoramic view of further deepening reform in an all-round way. The "Decision" puts forward more than 300 important reform tasks, and clearly states that all of them will be achieved by the 80th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 2029, which will provide a solid guarantee for China's modernization.

Wang Yi further introduced the important measures of the Decision on deepening reform, especially high-level opening up, and pointed out that China's reform and opening up is principled and directional, and the overall goal is to continue to improve and develop the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and promote the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity. Any attempt to change China's social system and development path is futile. We are following the right path chosen by the Chinese people. We neither copy foreign models nor export the Chinese model. We are willing to strengthen exchanges and integration with countries around the world on the basis of equality and mutual respect, and work together on the road to world modernization.

Wang Yi pointed out that China-US relations are one of the most important bilateral relations in the world. Whether China and the United States cooperate or confront each other is related to the well-being of the people of the two countries and the future and destiny of mankind. China's policy toward the United States is consistent, maintaining stability and continuity. It always handles US affairs in accordance with the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. It is committed to strengthening dialogue, managing differences, and expanding cooperation with the United States, and strives to stabilize, improve, and move forward China-US relations. At the same time, China also has interests that must be maintained, principles that must be defended, and bottom lines that must be adhered to. It is hoped that the American business community will continue to move forward hand in hand with China, not only to achieve greater development for itself, but also to make new contributions to promoting the development of China-US relations and the friendship between the two peoples.

Wang Yi listened carefully to the speeches of the US representatives and responded to their issues of concern one by one.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the United States, two major countries, cannot do without dealing with each other, it is unrealistic to want to change each other, and the consequences of conflict and confrontation are unbearable for anyone. From the perspective of "national priority", the world is small and crowded, and there is always "fierce competition". From the perspective of a shared destiny, the world is broad and vast, and there are opportunities for cooperation everywhere. The broad earth can accommodate the development and common prosperity of China and the United States. The past 45 years have told us that if the overall environment of Sino-US relations is good, all parties will benefit. If the overall environment is not good, the space for exchanges and cooperation will inevitably be squeezed. It is hoped that the US-China Business Council and its member companies will actively use their own connections and influence, combined with their development experience in China, to tell the US government, Congress and all walks of life about a real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China, and to make more objective, positive and rational voices, so as to promote the establishment of a correct understanding of China in the United States, stop suppressing China's economy, trade and technology, effectively solve the bottlenecks that restrict cultural exchanges, and promote the stable and healthy development of Sino-US relations.

USCBC Chairman of the Board of Directors Reisberg, United Family Healthcare Founder Lipschitz, Boeing International Group President Nelson, Educational Testing Service CEO Song Anmin, USCBC President Allen and others welcomed the important signal of further deepening reform released by the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. It is crucial for foreign companies, including the United States, to continue to invest and start businesses in China for a long time for the Chinese government to maintain policy consistency, coherence and stability. We expect the plenary session to drive a new round of economic reform and expand opening up in China and attract more sustainable foreign investment. The US-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world, and economic and trade relations are a stabilizing factor. The US business community is confident in continuing to deepen its roots in China, and looks forward to further deepening cooperation in many fields such as economy, trade, investment, green development, health, education, and humanities between the two sides, and is committed to building a strong and balanced US-China relationship, which is in full compliance with the common interests of the two countries and their peoples. The USCBC is willing to actively play its own influence and role and firmly serve as a stabilizing force for the development of US-China relations.
