since buddhism entered china, it has adhered to the concept of "loving the country and the religion" and insisted on spreading the dharma in accordance with the principles and opportunities. in more than 2,000 years of exploration and practice, it has formed an excellent tradition of abiding by the national system, adapting to social development, and following the progress of the times. the idea of ​​humanistic buddhism is a new proposition of chinese buddhism that conforms to the times and was born out of this tradition. eighty years ago, it was here, in the jade buddha temple, that master taixu founded the juequn society and the juequn weekly, trained monks, and carried out the practice of humanistic buddhism. he also entrusted the important task of promoting humanistic buddhism to the lay buddhist zhao puchu. since then, humanistic buddhism has become the guiding ideology for the development of chinese buddhism.

the thought of humanistic buddhism is the core content of the chinese buddhist thought system in the new era, an important starting point for promoting the practice of sinicization of buddhism, and the theoretical basis for the healthy inheritance and development of contemporary chinese buddhism. today, we gather in shanghai, the birthplace of humanistic buddhism, to expand the new connotation of humanistic buddhism and explore the new process of sinicization of buddhism. this is a continuation of the fine traditions of chinese buddhism, an opportunity given to us by the times, and a mission entrusted to us by the party and the country.

the theme of this seminar, "temple management and system under the perspective of humanistic buddhism", is a topic that emphasizes both theory and practice. it meets the real needs of the chinese buddhist community. it not only reflects the sincere desire of the various temples to explore their own traditions, share practical experiences, and exchange construction experiences, but also expresses the buddhist community's eagerness to obtain theoretical support from the academic community and deepen cooperation. at last year's forum, six temples jointly launched a new linkage model for the study of humanistic buddhism among temples; today, the jade buddha temple and fudan university jointly held this forum, which is another positive exploration to deepen the cooperation between the religious and academic circles, jointly promote the new development, new research, and new linkage of the cause of humanistic buddhism, and promote the practice of sinicization of buddhism in shanghai.
