so far, this widely-watched incident has had a preliminary result. the air conditioners were repurchased, the school was criticized, and the money contributed by the parents will surely be returned. previously, some parents raised funds to install air conditioners for the school, which had caused controversy. however, after the "request for parents to donate air conditioners" was stopped, when will the children be able to use air conditioners under the continued high temperature? the question remains unresolved.

“resolutely prevent such behavior from happening again” is only the first step and is far from enough. it does not clearly explain how to solve the problem of children suffering from heat in the classroom.

even though it is september now, the hot weather in chongqing, sichuan, hunan and other places is still continuing. some primary and secondary schools have even taken measures to delay the start of school. take xiangtan as an example. the highest temperature every day has been above 37℃ recently. a classroom with 40 or 50 children and no air conditioning, the temperature, smell and physical feeling must not be pleasant.

besides, air conditioning is not a luxury for most chinese people nowadays, and letting children study in an air-conditioned classroom should not be a luxury. the staff of xiangtan county education bureau said that "the state does not require schools to install air conditioners in classrooms", which is true, but from the perspective of the reality of the heat and the empathy of ordinary people, it is too inhumane.

although there is no national mandatory requirement, many places have been promoting the popularization of air conditioning in public primary and secondary schools in recent years, and have made positive progress. for example, wanning, hainan, yangzhou and changzhou, jiangsu, and qiaoxi district, shijiazhuang, hebei, have all installed air conditioners in public primary and secondary schools. in 2022, shanghai issued the "implementation opinions on further promoting the construction of compulsory education schools in the city", which clearly requires that all classrooms be equipped with air conditioners.
