IT Home reported on August 24 that Pony.ai announced on May 21 this year that it had obtained Guangzhou’s first intelligent connected vehicle expressway testing license, with one model each of its self-driving taxis and self-driving trucks selected.

On Wednesday, Peng Jun, co-founder and CEO of Pony.ai, said in an interview with Southern Finance Media Group that its Robotaxi has covered 803 square kilometers of Nansha, accumulated more than 36 million kilometers of autonomous driving road test mileage and 4 million kilometers of unmanned test mileage. He believes that the safety of "virtual drivers" is now more than 10 times that of human drivers.

He also said that intelligent driving is on the eve of large-scale commercialization, and the "Nansha experience" should be replicated across the country.

In terms of commercial use, Peng Jun said that Pony.ai has been operating in many cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and has deployed more than 100 Robotaxi vehicles in Guangzhou. From the actual operation point of view, this number still cannot meet user demand. Currently, each vehicle has an average of about 15 orders per day.

IT Home Note: Pony.ai has three main business lines: autonomous driving travel services (Robotaxi), autonomous driving freight trucks (Robotruck), and passenger car intelligent driving business (POV).

Regarding the IPO process, Peng Jun said that financing is a win-win situation with the capital market. Pony.ai has currently obtained some approvals and procedures, and the entire process is also related to the capital environment.
