An American man named Piccolo is facing legal challenges in suing Disneyland in California for the wrongful death of his wife after dining there.
According to the Associated Press report on the 15th, Piccolo stated in the indictment that they dined at a restaurant in Disneyland last October. Because his wife Tang Suan said she was allergic to dairy products and nuts, the restaurant waiter repeatedly assured them that some food could be made without allergens. After multiple confirmations, they chose to have dinner at the restaurant.
However, after dinner, Tang Suan began to "experience severe acute allergic reactions" while shopping in the park. It is said that although she injected herself with adrenaline, she still died of "allergic reactions caused by excessive levels of dairy products and nuts in the body." The forensic investigation also confirmed her cause of death.
It is reported that Piccolo sued Disneyland and demanded more than $50,000 in compensation. But Disney asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit on the grounds that Piccolo signed up for a trial service of the streaming service Disney+ in 2019. The service agreement requires trial users to resolve all disputes with Disney through arbitration. Disney said that Piccolo's family also agreed to similar arbitration clauses when purchasing park tickets. In a legal document, Piccolo's lawyer called Disney's approach "ridiculous" and said that signing up for a free trial of Disney+ would deprive customers of the right to sue Disney and its subsidiaries, which was "extremely unreasonable and unfair, and shocked the judicial conscience."
