As the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Central and Eastern European countries enters a new stage, the Hungary-Serbia railway has become a high-speed channel to improve people's lives and continues to write a new chapter of win-win cooperation.
In the more than two years since it was put into operation, the Beno section of the Hungary-Serbia railway has run an average of 62 passenger trains per day, with a maximum daily passenger volume of more than 15,000 and a cumulative passenger volume of more than 7 million. The high-speed railway has connected local cities into a convenient and dynamic network, becoming a bright business card for Serbia's modern infrastructure. The practice of safe and efficient operation of the Hungary-Serbia railway has fully proved that the technology and equipment with "Chinese origin" has achieved the "going out" of Chinese railway technology and equipment, and has made new and greater contributions to the high-quality construction of the "Belt and Road".
The Hungary-Serbia railway helps people move to the "fast lane" for travel. As the "first order" mission of China's high-speed rail in Europe, its appearance indicates that Serbia has thus entered the ranks of high-speed rail countries. With the Belgrade-Novi Sad section in Serbia being the first to open for operation, "railway commuting" has become a "new word" between the two ancient cities. The travel time between the two cities has been shortened from more than 90 minutes to about 30 minutes, and the time and space distance has been greatly shortened. High-speed rail has gradually changed the lifestyle of local people. For the Serbian people and the entire country, this is a huge change, which is of great significance to improving the travel conditions of residents along the line, promoting economic and social development, and expanding economic and trade cooperation and exchanges.
The Hungary-Serbia railway witnessed the "fruition" of the Chinese plan. As an important support for the "Belt and Road" initiative, the Hungary-Serbia railway has injected strong impetus into the local economic and social development, and also conveyed the Chinese development concept and plan contained in the "Belt and Road" initiative. The opening and operation of the Beno section of the Hungary-Serbia railway is a major achievement in the docking of Chinese railway technology and equipment with the EU railway interconnection technical specifications. The going out of China's railways is not only the connection of the lines, but also promotes in-depth cooperation between the two sides. From technology, standards, management experience, to employment, exchange and learning, and talent training, one railway has built a bridge for in-depth cooperation in multiple projects. The full connection of the Hungary-Serbia railway not only demonstrates China's strong strength in the field of infrastructure construction, but also has a very important significance for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between Central and Eastern Europe and building a major international trade channel between China and Europe.
