Xinhua News Agency, Nairobi, August 14(Reporter Xu Jiatong) The inspection tour of key projects of Kenya-China cooperation organized by the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs kicked off at the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi on the 14th. Diplomats or representatives from more than ten African countries, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Zhou Pingjian, and Kenyan Deputy Foreign Minister Sin Oei attended the inspection and discussion activities.
In his speech, Sin Oei said that China strongly supports Africa's development at the bilateral and multilateral levels. Like other African countries, Kenya regards China as an important strategic partner. Kenya-China cooperation covers many fields such as health, trade and investment, tourism, communications, education and digitalization. In its exchanges with China, Kenya feels that it is an equal partner.
Kenya's Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport Dagar said that China and African countries have pledged to continue to strengthen comprehensive strategic cooperation and build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future. Kenya supports China's global development initiatives.
Zhou Pingjian said that the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit will be held in Beijing from September 4 to 6. Mutual respect, equality and joint consultation are important features of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He believes that with the joint efforts of China and Africa, the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit will open up new prospects for China-Africa relations.
On the morning of the same day, the envoys or representatives of various countries visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi, the Nairobi Expressway and the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway built by Chinese companies, and had in-depth exchanges with teachers of the Confucius Institute and representatives of Chinese companies. They appreciated Chinese dragon and lion dances and traditional songs and dances, experienced Chinese calligraphy and food, and took the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway train to visit the Mombasa in the afternoon of the same day.
